@Kirwan Nothing to do with fluffing the Crusaders. As I said, it's quite the opposite. He's always harsher on them than any other team. Remember he's a Canes man.

Maybe his style of swallowing a whistle just shows up more for neutral fans when the Crusaders dial up the cynicism.

The reality is there was no good option for ref really.
Presumably Williams and Pickerell were ruled out due to being in the respective camps this season.
Gardner has his issues, Murphy is nowhere near the standard, Way is way too junior (no pun), I don't think Frasier has the big game experience.

@Bovidae TJ and Kane Hames were a disgrace in the commentary box on Friday, especially Kane Hames who kept referring to people who don't like the Crusaders as 'haters' every second sentence.
