There must be quite a few injuries to make so many changes and exclude both L Jacobson and Messam from the 23. McCurran was not even part of the squad but did feature in some pre-season games. Still no Norris, who didn't take part in the warmup last round.

@Bovidae Will Messam be back this year now that he's reached 100 games?

Some surprising selections there. 3 debut players I know nothing about.

I finally watched the replay of the Waikato-HB game last night and Messam's post-match interview suggested he is continuing to play.

@Yeetyaah So Tuhakaraina is a local? I did see he has played for KC and club rugby in BOP.

Dickinson and Tuhakaraina. Went to school with both of them, a couple of years younger than me. Played with Rhys though.

I can see Waikato losing this one. Northland are pretty strong. Waikato's lineout struggled last week after Tucker went off and here's not in the team this week. Northland have had the wood on us for the last few years...

                          The TAB disagrees with you:

                          Waikato:- $1.20. Northland:- $4.60.

The addition of Tuangafasi, Goodhue, Robinson, and Nock to last weeks team surely won't make a difference?.... (he says while quietly logging into aforementioned website)

@Pepe I'm sure Waikato were favourites the last couple of times they ventured to Northland. The TAB don;t always get it right. That being said I will be happy to be proven wrong!

I can see Waikato losing this one. Northland are pretty strong. Waikato's lineout struggled last week after Tucker went off and here's not in the team this week.

Finau playing should help as he has been the main lineout target in recent seasons. Marshall can have the throwing yipes though, but he played the full 90 mins against HB.

Picture version of team...given I'd heard Goodhue & Ofa were training and had been released to play early in the week, I'd have thought an earlier team naming would have happened to get a few more tickets sold.

looking like perfect conditions today if not a bit cool at about 14deg, light SW breeze...hope we get a decent crowd along, and the lads can pull it all together for them!
