That forward pack has a dad’s army feel about it, I don’t necessarily think that will be our starting side. In the season proper I think Lomax will start ahead of Franks, I suspect Flanders will start (but maybe not in the 8 jersey), and I think Aumua would be the hooker over Coles and surely Roigard starts over Booth. Naholo is definitely not going to be starting so I guess you can only read so much into it. Also I think Rayasi will start over Naiduki.

@Canes4life Rakete-Stones will probably start, too, or Mafileo.

We are “ruining” preseasons as well Team looks pretty average imo. Razor will have his work cut out making this squad competitive. Blues definite favourites then the Canes to advance to the finals this year from the NZ teams.

@Stargazer said in Preseason: Hurricanes v Crusaders: @Canes4life Yeah, I know that of course, but there are no scheduled flights from Chch to Paraparaumu. They'd have to hire a charter, which is far more expensive than flying to Palmy. The difference in distance between Levin and Paraparaumu Airport (45km) and between Levin and Palmy Airport (55km) is negligible. Yep Star and Palmerston to Levin would be quicker journey to. I actually driving down from Hawera tomorrow, being a Levin fella from way back (and a sad desperate rugby man) , thought I'd go down and watch the game, and visit son and daughter while there!!
And have a sponge kitchen pie while there!

hurricanesrugby Calling for donations of canned food Calling for donations of canned food

Our friends at Resene and Salvation Army are collecting canned food for those who have been hit the hardest by Cyclone Gabrielle. People have lost their homes, and many are without basic necessities.

You can drop your canned food to any Resene store, nationwide, and we’ll also have a can drop at both Hurricanes matches this weekend:

  Hurricanes v Crusaders, Friday’s 5PM @Levin Domain Hurricanes v Crusaders, Friday’s 5PM @Levin Domain

Poua v Matatu, Saturday 11:30AM @ Porirua Park Poua v Matatu, Saturday 11:30AM @ Porirua Park

Come on whanau, let’s get behind those in need. Every can counts

@Stargazer said in Preseason: Hurricanes v Crusaders: @cgrant This is the answer the Hurricanes gave on Facebook to the same question: He has a minor injury so we’re just giving him a rest. I posted this in the Hurricanes 2023 thread. Ruben Love has a groin strain and will miss the first two rounds of regular season action.

@Stargazer said in Preseason: Hurricanes v Crusaders: Is anyone at this game? Can you, please, post updates? Shame. Stuff isn't doing update. This doesn't surprise me but nor are the hurricanes

@Winger I'm so annoyed! When we were in Covid level 2, even the most low level club or school game was livestreamed. That proved it isn't that hard! They know plenty of people can't travel all the way to Levin for a preseason game; not to mention fans in the South Island. If the Highlanders can stream games from Oamaru and Queenstown, the Canes can do it from Levin. The Crusaders are posting photos on instagram, so hopefully we get some updates from them.
