This Harris kid at halfback for the Blues is completely lost out there.

Didn't seem like any major injuries for either side

@Steven-Harris Yeah, was just going to post that. Very emotional. Bringing a few tears to my eyes tbh.

@Stargazer absolutely, got Whānau down that way and seeing some of the pictures I have seen puts everything in perspective.

@Steven-Harris I saw several comments from Magpies & other Hawke's Bay born/raised players on social media that sounded like they'd rather be at home helping than playing.

Maybe it was mentioned earlier but Moli only lasted about 5 mins. The physios were working on his right shoulder but he never returned. It meant the Chiefs had Kaivelata and Tukuafu playing TH, and the scrum struggled. Lalomilo twisted his ankle but they taped it up and he later went back on.

For the Blues, I noticed that Darry had a knee brace on. One of the Lay brothers had a moon boot on.

DMac was the difference today. Creating so many opportunities. Blues scrum was good in first part.

So based on this post and other comments I have read of the three 1sts who have a maybe AB potential. DMac was best. Perofeta 2nd and Zarn 3rd best

Is this a fair reflection of this game

Blues loaded their team early and had set piece dominance and all the territory due to repeat infringements. But they lacked the finishing and attack was a bit clunky. When Chiefs brought on their stronger players they quickly dominated the blues second stringers. Much of this was due to DMac getting hands on the ball as often as possible and creating opportunities for others. It did not all come off but mostly did. Big moment was when he ran down AJ Lam on defence.
What I like is how he gets into position to spark an attack so quickly and looks to set up others. It stretches the opposition and that was telling in an early season match. Perofeta was good himself but not as influential and the Blues attack was a bit laboured. I am a fan of Zarn but he was kept pretty quiet and his boot seemed a bit below his best. Thought RTS made some critical errors to offset his good touches. Clarke played well.

Having watched a replay of this game, my thoughts on the refereeing of Wiliams live were confirmed. He was so selective in penalising players for sealing off, but the majority of times was quite happy to let attacking players go straight off their feet or take defending players out behind the ruck. All I want is consistency and I expect to see frustrated players and coaches if this is the way the breakdown will be officiated.

Watching those highlights and R Ioane didn't look like an AB.

RWC crystal ball has Stevenson as a bolter.
DMac's distribution is so much better than RM and BB.

I hope that Stevenson continues at fullback, which probably means Alaimalo gets a game on the right wing this Friday. Maybe Narawa's injury isn't too serious.

With JB moving to 12 we miss a player like Stevenson to carve off territory with the boot.
We have often discussed BBS pop gun boot and I haven’t seen much of Jordan’s kicking game.

I doubt it will happen but I would love to see DMac distributing to Ioane, Clarke and Jordan with JB as bail out option and Stevenson as backstop.

    Darry torn/ruptured LCL.
James Lay suspected lisfranc injury on the OTHER foot 🤦‍♂️
