I don't want to sound like a fanboi, because I've only seen this kid for the first time, but Viljoen's passing game is exactly what we needed from the start. Rapid pop passes allowing our forwards to run hard and straight

Needless penalty from Flanders allowing France to get another maul try attempt

NZ had the chances to really make France sweat but failed to execute when needed

Nice passage there, but another turnover ruins the buildup

It could be other factors, but our reserve 9 and 10 have performed better than the starters....

I can't believe the baby boks will play on this field straight after

Good luck to S Africa and Italy, who still have to play on this field. (Assuming it's the same field at Paarl).

I don't know if the conditions are typical for this time of year. But if so, this venue as an advertisement for rugby, is not good IMHO. Unless you want to turn back the clock to the 70s

So maybe they should try Viljoen at 9 and Godrey at 10 next time?

Some good impetus from the subs, namely Viljoen and Stodart I thought. Starting front rowers actually did okay, particularly at the scrum. Lack of size at lock really hurt us.

At 21-0 after 30 odd I feared much much worse.

Not a bad effort all up.

Well, it didn't become a French 50+ blow-out, but still the expected loss.

                              FT: France 35 - 14 New Zealand

Not bad, score could have been closer if we'd been a little more clinical

Feel like Godfrey is a lot like a young DMac (though slightly worse). Does some amazing things which catch the eye, but then also does several poor things across the game. At his size, you have to be that bit more accurate, and though I felt he improved at 10, he did also step up and fling that horrid intercept. Not my cup of tea personally. I like safety in a first five.

Now we need the biggest blow-out win against Japan imaginable to have a minimal chance to reach the 1-4 play-offs. But that England-Ireland draw has basically already stuffed that up. Rigged! 😬
