Good thing that NZR got that Silverlake money. Hawkes Bay can use their portion to repair the Shield.

Lucky that Wellington didn't break it, they couldn't have afforded to fix it.

This is why Hawke's Bay shouldn't be trusted with anything precious. Absolute trash behaviour. I am both appalled and disgusted.

        Sanctions should.be:

        • Shield-holding status is relinquished and given to East Coast
        • HB stripped of all points in this year's NPC, and unable to collect any points in 2024 or 2025.
        • BOP get "The Bay" usage rights for the next 10 years, regardless of results.
        • Forced to play all 2024 home games at a shitty ground with noted drainage and sunstroke issu-... wait, they already do that.
        • Magpie supporters must not be navel-gazing, one-eyed, chip-on-shoulder-carrying knobends for five years. This will clearly be the hardest to maintain based on the HB fans on the Fern.

Pricks, though I shouldn’t be surprised.

HB has always just been a bogan version of Manawatu

Actually for al the jokes, it pretty disappointing that this happened. Yeah yeah it's just young fellas being young fellas , but not really what you want happening. If you not going to look after it don't take the f***en thing home, or let anyone take it home if they are idiots.

I'm disappointed that the Shield has been damaged, but I'm already reading too many assumptions about what happened.

Based on what I’ve read I’m assuming someone split it in half

Given the celebrations that happen around the Shield, I'm amazed it hasn't happened sooner. Or if it did, pre social media with no evidence...!

Let's be honest. The locals proved they were unfit to host Warriors games this year, so this is just a continuation of the scummy behaviour emerging from Napier, Hastings and all the other two-bit towns that make up so-called "Magpie country". In fact, I'm surprised the union hasn't tried to blame a rogue streaker.

True mate, we should settle - these shields have a long history of breaking themselves

@Smudge Cute. There were 12 arrests in Wellington earlier in the year for pitch invasion in the Warriors’ opening match. I didn't hear you about that.

                                Stadium can't handle cricket either

If it wasn't for a couple of wineries the whole province could slide in to the sea Aenima style

@mariner4life You realise that we just had a horrible cyclone this year and that this is not something to joke about. There are still a lot of people suffering the consequences.

@Stargazer per capita, the McLean Park saga leaves the efforts of the fine people of greater Wellington in the season opener in the shade.

And, of course, Wellington didn't break the shield.
