Wow. So there will be a chance that the two SH superpowers will fight it out to see who has won more RWCs. Time to pay them back for 1995 I reckon....

I’ve mentioned before I’m not a fan of the whole hemisphere thing…..

But this result means wankface Clive Woodward is 1 from 4 for his picks over the weekend.

    That makes me happy.

Surely the WC chokers tag can never be applied to us now after this weekend of semi-finals ...

Gutted for France. But they didn't deserve it, the Boks did.

    > Amazing that Kolbe'e charge down was the difference.

Boks with an awesome backline is a scary prospect. Kolbe was unreal tonight

I said at the time that it was amazing that we didn't see a single replay to confirm whether he left early or not - other providers may have, but you'd think that would be the easiest thing for a TMO to quickly check? We check every other bloody thing!

Just cos we don't see it didn't mean it was not checked by the TMO, they do their work on their screens, not ours

For me France lost this as much as the boks won it. Defence was not the level you would expect and it gave boks easy meters. They continued to put only one in the rucks when it was clear BOK was happy to let them get a bit scrappy. But what killed them is a tiny winger given no help at all against bombs and chasers all a foot taller than him.

As for the card. When I see a call like that I think to all the other reds we have copped in the past. I just don't understand anymore what's a red and what's not. Which is shit for rugby, both the Fijian and BOK cards would be red in any super game and during the rugby championship. In a way it makes loses easier to take as it's a coin flip so it's out of your control.

Also are there no citings in this world cup because I would love to know how they got to that decision.

Given the tendancy of refs to swallow their whistle late you wonder if the French would have been better to go for the try instead of the kick with 8 mins or so left at that stage.

Which is awful. I know they want to keep the game moving but for fans it's just a massive mystery what's going on in the background.

I would prefer slower games but more transparency. But broadcasters must love this.

I was thinking the same thing when they went for the penalty kick,
That may be their last chance to get a head.
The Boks could close this out from the kick off .

Gutted. Staying with my French mate who was also my best man. Really wanted fra vs nz final. Especially as we had tickets to 2007 and had to sit thru eng va sa.

Could have been worse. You could have had tickets to the Fr NZ quarter...

Bielle-Biarrey is taller than either Arendse or Kolbe, who coped just fine, and even out-jumped taller opponents. It was often the likes of Woki who didn't take a high kick cleanly.

Maybe it was mentioned in the previous match comments but Fickou ignoring his unmarked winger which would have given France a second early try was a big miss. Scoreboard pressure.

Judging by that metric it's no wonder Liam Williams was able to keep hold of the Wales 15 jersey for so long.

Terrific first half, second half more tense than quality. Still, very good game to watch, congrats SA, hard luck France.

Yeehah. French crowd taken out of it for the final. England could take the Boks now with the right ref. The choice of officials will be important for remaining matches. I thought BOK was great today and had respect of the players.

Feel sorry for Mauvaka and the ever dangerous Penaud. Jalibert was great too. My mom was Kolbe and that chargedown pretty much decided it in the end.
    Great set of quarters!

I'm saying once France realised he wasn't coping they needed to do something either change him or get help on those bombs. Just because the other team are coping doesn't mean you leave him to sort it himself. Coaches didn't react and France had no counter. Tactically brilliant by SA but real dumb by France not to react.

Maybe it was - but if it was us on the receiving end of that, I’d be pretty dark to not see the replay, and to not hear the ref confirm that the TMO had looked at it

Anyone else spot the subtle little nudge by Arendse on the French player under the garryowen for the first try. Arendse looking up at the ball, but he runs into the French player who knocks into his teammate (Fickou?) and the ball ricochets off. Arendse mops up the mess.

Would be interested to hear if anyone else thought it was interference.

The French were able to make huge in-roads through that SA defense all game, the problem was all the passing and offloads they kept running out of support, and lost ruck ball, either to turnover, or a panicked presentation that got knocked through.

Even that last possession they got off their line, made 60m easy, then one guy got isolated and tried to throw it back, South Africa pounced.
