Reading the law I'd say it would be legal.

Good on them. It is still an achievement to come third.

Wasn't there a case a while back when a player threw away their bronze medal? I thought what a plonker.

        Does that ring any bells.

@Damo Cassius Clay threw his Olympic Gold Medal from the 1960 Rome Games into the Ohio River after being chased by racists and he wasn’t awarded a new one until the 1996 Atlanta Games.

SBW put his RWC winners medal around the kid’s head, but he was given another one the next day.

Jose Mourinho has a habit of throwing medals into the crowd.

A Swedish Ice Hockey captain threw his runners’ up medal in the crowd.

Maro Itoje got criticism for taking off his runners’ up medal in Japan but I don’t think he threw it away.

Brian Moore threw his 1991 silver away and I think I read somewhere that he now regrets that.

Yeah he said it in a recent interview. OK it is not gold but fucking hell, not many people get silver either. And when your career is behind you, it will mean a lot.

Yep. The law doesn't really state what happens in between lifting and landing

Never seen that before, absolutely loved it, in fact there must be some dust in the air. Would never ever begrudge a player his reaction after a game, that right belongs to the man in the arena.

what a salutary reminder that however this evening goes for the 46 players involved, no one can ever take it away from them, win or lose.

England are frustrating to watch knowing how many talented players they have to choose from, but you have to tip your hat to Borthwick based on the previous 6N and Summer Warm Ups form

“I'm delighted for the players, who have worked so hard," he said.

"We won six games out of seven and lost one game by one point to the world champions, which shows the progress of the team."

He added: "I've already started looking forward to the Six Nations in my mind.”

                                  Very frustrating.

But I can’t bring myself to tip my hat to Borthwick (or were you being facetious?), for sure England were not in a great place when he took over but his boring non-rugby playbook and his truly muddled and dogmatic selections have resulted in a team that is significantly less than the sum of its parts.

Yeah, we one 6 out of 7 and lost to the current World Champs by one point, but… the only tier 1 team we beat were the Argies who were very hit and miss. Also, barring the Chill-lay game, we could easily have lost all the others. 6 out of 7 doesn’t look so good that way round.

If he jettisons the old guard then the 6N looks promising
