@Dan54 I also think the Canes (bar injuries) should have players focusing on one position only for clarity.

I.e Shields and Howden focusing on 6, Kirifi and Lakai focusing on 7, and Flanders and Iose covering 8. Then the likes of Delany, Sangster and Walker-Leawere focusing purely on the second row.

I feel like Holland moved guys around too much and it all got too disjointed.

Anyway, looks like a good day here in Welly. They should hopefully get a good crowd up at their training base for the 2.30pm start.

Only time I kind of wish I lived down there, would wander out and watch the trial. Went down to Levin for the preseason against Crusaders last year, but further is a step too far really. Got my tickets for Rebel's clash in Palmerston North the other day and my season tickets for Taranaki), so feel like season is coming up. I was getting them sorted out, same as first Rugby News being due, Mrs remined me perhaps I cme under the heading of being a rugby tragic, I didn't argue, she comes to super, tests and NPC games with me anyway, so I just let it slide!

Delany's future is not at lock IMO. He's just not tall enough (194 cm). But he is a pretty good 6 who could have pretensions for the black jersey.

But what is his real height

Maybe. But the reality is with injuries and replacements most players, except for the front row and HB, need to cover more than one position

@Winger I've seen him next to Scott Barrett and he virtually looks the same height, so whatever he is I guess.

Mate just sent me a picture. Big crowd has rolled in. The biggest thing to happen in Upper Hutt since Dragon welcomed in the New Year at Brewtown

Massive Hurricanes scrum wins a penalty when MP had good attacking ball.

    Who's the commentator with Laban?

Thats better from the Canes. Love joins the backline and throws a good long pass to Lakai who scores down the wing

Canes defence is rubbish, hopefully a pre season problem. So many gaps, only MP errors stopping them scoring. 40-26

A bit behind watching this game. HT comments

    Love looks the goods
    Both wings a bit ordinary
Morgan shows again he's not good enough
    Midfield was OK
Penenara looked lively. The new young halfback (Viljoen). Class.

Julian has found his best position. He could be a quality additional at 2nd 5. He's too slow now for wing or even center.

Standouts for me in this game were Kirifi, Godfrey (please put him at 10), Love, Higgins, Vijoen (the young kid has a beautiful pass), Naholo, Iose and Howden.

Canes have a tone of class backs coming through, just hope they get plenty of opportunity.

Defence was a worry but I’m sure they will up the intensity next week.

I a Godfrey fan, but not really a stabnd out I didn't think (had a couple pf runs only). Like you think maybe he is the future at 10, but I admit to only see him play there for about 20 minutes in Levin last year, so needs ato even get a start there at NPC level for the Bay, he plays 15 for them usually, same as he couldn't vrack U20s at 10, so perhaps we will need to bide our time.
Kini Naholo looked pretty good too, stood out probably more , but not sure about him as yet.
