Will get back into the weights more regularly when I sort the garage.

Back to reality after a week in the island, I must say the heat was a bit of a shock to the system, that and lots of great ( and a bit of not so great food ) and a fuck ton of booze ( do try their local craft beer if you're there, surprisingly awesome ). Scales say I'm about 101-102kg so a bit of weight packed on but no big deal.

Exercise wise not much happened, a few long walks, dips in the ocean etc coupled with some sky presses of my new fiancée, lots of bed sports and ( by far the most taxing ) a "walk" ( which was much more like a climb ) to the summit of the needle, 413 metres above sea level with fucken sensational views. Never realized quite how fit my better half is as she scaled that thing ( bitch ), but I didn't give in and was right behind her the whole way up there. I thoroughly recommend that but bring lots of water and don't do it after a massive and delicious Pizza at Trader Jacks ( I didn't see a signed nude photo of Zac Guildford hanging up there which was a shame )

Raro is definitely a beautiful place but a week was too long, there isn't a huge amount to do and I'm not really much of a "beach" person. Got through three Ben Elton books though ( I forgot how much I enjoyed his stuff, Stark, Gridlock and Blind Faith are all great reads ) and slept in til at least 10 every day but even that was annoying with noisy fucken roosters and cats.

Good work on the Needle walk. I never have a problem going up, aside from being fat and sweaty, but I hate going down, it seems to take so long, and someone has slipped crossing the creek every time I've done it - also fuck doing it after eating pizza.

Funny, you think a week is too long, any time I go less than 10 days I just feel rushed and don't get to do everything I want to do.

We did the needle at a fair old clip to be fair and her and I were wearing sandles and reef shoes respectively ( we decided to do it at the last minute and couldn't be fucked going back to change footwear ). Going down ( the needle, not on her ) was a bitch and I stubbed my toe pretty badly on one of the million roots which was a pain.

I very nearly wiped out on the creek too, It hadn't rained for a couple of days but still slippery as fuck.

Sandals and Reef shoes - you loons! My Mum also did it in sandals, she too is a loon!

Did you get passed by any of the dudes that run that course? It's quite disconcerting walking down and have someone fly past you jumping on and off rocks and roots.

Naaa just two other couple who were struggling heaps more than us ( cos, y'know we're athletes )

If I did actually live in Raro I would probably look at trying to do it a couple of times a week but in saying that the heat would give me the shits before too long.

Now we find out why there was so much interest in press ups - the ol transferable skill set aye!! ha ha awesome news mate. Big congrats to you both :good:

Pretty sure the chin up/pull up interest was legit, but you are engaged to a pies and lattes instructor so ....

She does Zumba as well so the cardio is decent too. Like I said I was gasping a bit towards the top of the Needle and thank fuck the old jean shorts had a bit of stretch in them for the more awkward climbs haha. If I hadn't have embarked on a fairly vigorous walking regime in the hills near home I would have been totally left for dead so as they say in that disappointingly crappy Zombie movie with Woody Harelson, remember to do your cardio boys !

It is pretty scary at the top when it's windy and misty as it was that day.

Back into the swing of thing. No weights whatsoever this week but some big hill walks, plyometrics and push ups/dips/chins etc. Pretty certain the Whey has aided my recovery, not only that the strawberry flavour is actually pretty decent !

A week of piss and fine food is all well and good but you definitely feel better when this is done in moderation especially as your 40th birthday approaches.

I think I hate and love cardio equally now. Part of my morning routine is a quick but extremely tough walk up a track near where I live. I've taken to gently jogging up it now and watching the times come down is pretty satisfying. Only 15 or so minutes but the burning lungs and sweat I build up indicates I'm doing something beneficial ! Really nice view of the town belt makes it a pretty satisfying walk.

I think I speak for many on here when I saw fuck going on an hour run, who has time for that shit ?

yep, it's the one thing I do like about high intensity training. If I've gotta do cardio I want it over asap and feel like I've smashed myself. Not a fan of long works or low impact cardio. Pfft

Long runs are a sure fire way to lose "gains" too and I know I speak for both of us when I say that's a fate worse than death.

Yeah not a fan of running either. 12mins on cross trainer is all I need. Can hit like 3 or 4 peaks in that time and leave feeling smoked!

With these ever lengthening daylight hours I'll soon be able to start doing stair sprints after work again. Nearly that time of year!

Yeah other half is keen for some of that sort of stuff so we're gonna end up being one of "those" couples over spring/summer ( shudders )
