This is a cool story in the lead up to this game. At the beginning of the season Laidlaw put a Canes 10 and 15 jersey on the ground and told Love to choose one. Love obviously chose the 15 jersey and the rest is history but what a play by Laidlaw to make a player choose.

Doesn't say much for the coaches back then

"I feel, when I first came into the Hurricanes, I got cluttered with too much information," he admitted. "I was trying to be a player I wasn't, but the last eight months, I've figured out where I stand and what I want to achieve, and the player I want to be known as.

I’ve heard that Holland was a coach that went through the motions a bit, never really changed things up from a culture point of view. It also showed through his selections, even when players weren’t performing he would still select them i.e Blackwell, Prinsep, Savea etc.

So by Laidlaw coming in it’s really freshened up the environment. Every interview with a Canes player this year they’ve highlighted the difference Laidlaw has made to get the best out of the players and the culture he’s created to bring the team together I.e coffee catch-ups, lunchs, all those little things that connect the whole Hurricanes organisation together. Laidlaw seems to have brought an innovative approach into the Canes through his sevens background vs when Holland was in charge it was almost same shit different year which made it frustrating as a fan.

Connection is something I’ve heard Laidlaw quote a number of times now and it’s probably the most important thing towards creating a successful team. Razor emphasised that when he was coaching the Saders and just look how it went for them. Im glad Holland is in the past.

@Canes4life hopefully he's a better assistant than he is a HC. Might be happier doing his core job as opposed to running the show

Shaun Stevenson and Du’Plessis Kirifi are to be game time decisions. Wont know until close to kick off whether they are playing or not.

I wonder if they’ll bring an extra back replacement into the side if Kirifi is out. Naholo will probably come onto the bench.

funnily enough i rate the Chiefs chances higher now, Rona and ENS are more rounded players & stronger defenders than Stevenson, will probably end up proving to be more important factor for these knockouts.

Will be interesting if Chiefs experience from last year's playoffs will come to the fore

Based on the regular season I'm tipping the consistency of the Canes to be too strong

                            Canes by 6
