Boy, the Chiefs played a much smarter game than the Canes, and if they get front foot ball can be a nightmare to play.
Seriously though, whoever can up with the game plan to kick away all their ball was dumb as a rock.
Lots of injuries in both teams too.

For all our backline flair, and athletic attacking players, we won that with linespeed and ruck pressure. Every Hurricanes player was constantly under pressure.
But, the Canes worked out how to beat it, play straight and hard. JBarrett for first carrynthen everyone else off that was hard to stop, but a Chiefs defender just kept getting off the line and in their face.
After most of our existence being defined by being flakey, that's fun to watch.

Geez that was great game, and as a Canes man, I not gutted or anything, I didn't think Canes played badly, Chiefs were bloody good !!!

The consensus at the start of year is that we would finish 4th or 5th of the NZ sides. We did a lot better than that.
This is still mostly a young Hurricanes squad and will probably peak in two or three years time.

Moorby fluffing that try was a massive turning point I felt. Reminded me of the Savea 2015 final drop.
Our handling was poor all night but that took the cake.
Huge shift by Sititi. Thought IWL was very good on a losing team too.
@foobaNZ IWL was huge on both sides of the ball, and I liked his set piece work. Great game
