SF - Hurricanes vs Chiefs

Imagine being a young loosie and having Messam as an in-house mentor?
A great player sure, but heart and soul Chiefs man, who understands how to just work hard to build a fucking great career. -

I love Finau probably more than anyone on this forum, but I'm still not convinced, for all his power and skill, he does enough.
But what I hope this coaching group does, is take obvious talent and develop it.
Serious hp that dude has

Razor likes high workrate players like Blackadder, but I think Finau will still be the starting 6.

Picking busy ineffective guys is a blindspot for a few coaches.
Find talent, mould it. You can build workrate with instructions and positioning. -
That said, every team needs role players. Just not in the loose forwards.
-
For all that I thought a few canes were really good.
JBarrett is not what some try to make out, but he is the best hard carrying midfielder in the country. Of he and DMac can gel they should create oodles of space
I thought Love was good at FB
Lakai is a weapon of an openside
That's as good as I've seen IWL play
The front row were good. -
Canes shouldn't have started Shields.

I doubt whether Sititi will amke it this year. 6, and 10 with 9 perhaps in the squad I can see.
-
I went back and watched the 2nd Chiefs try off the charge down
It was entirely Perenara's fault
After the ball was charged down Perenara got possession and he inexplicably threw the ball back basically straight to Sititi
@KiwiMurph Really hope he isn't in the team. Dreadful at international level.

Really was prophetic him dropping the ball coming out in the tunnel
No! That didn't happen did it?
100% happened.
Loooool

And that's what Shields and TJ did when it happened.

I always enjoy your reluctance to ever select a new player
'Perhaps 9 in the squad' who are these other 9s making the squad over Ratima haha?

The front row were good.@mariner4life Mostly agree. But the gap in class at First Five was as wide as the Grand Canyon.

Yeah Cameron was the worst player on the park for me. Had an absolute shocker.
Barrett, Moorby and Perenara also had games to forget. Probably a few more but I’m too disappointed haha
-
For all our backline flair, and athletic attacking players, we won that with linespeed and ruck pressure. Every Hurricanes player was constantly under pressure.
But, the Canes worked out how to beat it, play straight and hard. JBarrett for first carrynthen everyone else off that was hard to stop, but a Chiefs defender just kept getting off the line and in their face.
After most of our existence being defined by being flakey, that's fun to watch.

If only the Blues could play that way they'd have a chance.

That's why they are heavy favourites in my eyes. Especially if ST is out they'll just roll us.
