Good win for Canterbury and able to blood some youngsters 2- 20 year olds and 2 -21 year olds all in there first NPC in the starting XV and 2 -19 year olds and a 21 year old on the bench in their first seasons.

Both teams were similar in terms of the number of quite young players. The difference is that Canterbury also had probably 300+ more Super Rugby caps and some former All Blacks wrapping around their inexperienced players. While Otago's experience is badically Coltman, Lio-Willie, an injury plagued Umaga-Jensen and a few fringe Super players like Pole and Ma'u. Not diminshing Canterbury's performance just saying they are fortunate to have a lot of experience to assist in the development of their younger players.

They could barely beat North Harbour. It's unlikely.

They are no certainty in winning those remaining games. I've got them losing to Ta$man and Hawke's Bay. Even if they beat Southland and Northland they are still unlikely.

Still a long shot, they will need other games to go their way.

My earlier comments about Hurley is more about his decision-making. As I said, I like that he backs himself and has a go. BUT that doesn't mean he needs to throw a miracle pass or do a chip kick every time he beats the first defender. Taking the tackle and setting up the next phase isn't a bad thing.

@Landers92 he’s a liability in games where someone needs to step up. His ceiling is NPC and I’m happy to wait a few seasons to be proven right.
i was one of the first to say at the start of the season i felt he has serious limitations....also one of the first to say he'd done a lot to impress and offset his limitations this year
such a big chip on your shoulder is weird...happy to wait years to be proven right about something?....i didn;t think someone that small could bully someone....but was he your highschool bully or something?
@Kiwiwomble I just don’t think he’s particularly good and I don’t understand the hype…. This is a sports opinion forum after all. I’m hardly bullying anyone. Let’s not be too silly. It’s tough to have a chip on your shoulder for an NPC rugby player.

NPC rugby player.
You can't say his ceiling is the NPC when he plays Super Rugby. Maybe you didn't make the grade as a rugby player but don't discredit the guy when he's clearly represented the Highlanders.

We all have players we don't rate. For one reason or another. Out of the young Otago players, I'm open on not being huge on Cam Millar. Yet, I'm trying to see the good in his game. Sure, Hurley had a few areas to develop with and makes some mistakes. However, throughout out the season he has done a lot of good things and shown growth. It seems you are happy to ignore the good things he does, but put a mircoscope on the mistakes. Try looking at his game with a glass half full approach and you might see a player who is making a decent contribution and developing his game. He's a long way from perfect. He has however pulled off some big plays this season.
