32:43 is the best I know of...  Which is insane, almost 8 minutes better than the 40 minute 10k...<br />
<br />
http://www.c2ctc.com/<br />
<br />
This is part of an online rowing challenge between online rowing teams...<br />
<br />
I am 30th, and in the 6th placed 'boat', which is comprised of 5 rowers, 3 fatblokes, a skinny bloke, and a chick.<br />
<br />
have one more go at that challenge before the end of the month to try and get my time down more, but can't really se it, maybe a few seconds if I am lucky.

Well there's a bit of tumbleweed around here...<br />
<br />
Thought I'd post my new PB in here because I wanted to brag <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />
<br />
40:21.5<br />
<br />
Took almost 20secs off of my old PB. I haven't been rowing set distances very much recently - I've been concentrating on wieghts and doing the odd interval session on the erg. It's certainly helped my drive<br />
<br />
I'll catch you yet Mogwai!

good work Duluth, you'll get under that 40 minute mark in a couple more rows I reckon, if you crank into them in the next week or two that is!!

Gutted<br />
<br />
Just did another PB and it was 40:08.6<br />
<br />
8.6 secs away from the 40min barrier!<br />
<br />
Dammit. I've been concentrating on other things so that was first 10km in about 6 weeks. I figured I would pace myself for a solid 41mins and halfway through I realised I'd sold myself short.. just didn't have enough in the sprint to catch it at the end<br />
<br />
Next time..

Do the first 5k in 20 minutes, even if you are feeling good.  Then the next 5k you can up pace, and you'll be there before you know it!!<br />
Even if you start out feeling shit, keep that frist 5k pace at 2:00, as you might come right anyway, even if struggling over that first few ks...<br />
<br />
Easy from here, where I have not rowed more than 30 minutes over the last couple of months!!  Lots of 20 minutes and 5ks, but nothing too painful!!

Good stuff, Duluth.<br />
I have been off the Concept 2 for ages - combination of being crook for a while, and through summer I discovered swimming, at the age of 40 and got a bit hooked. Doesn't really help the times on the rower. Just got back into it in the last couple of weeks - 5 km still over 20 mins, but cranked a couple of good 2.5 km including 9.44 today after a 40 minute bike session.<br />
Just gotta build up the distance.<br />
40 minutes for 10 km seems, well, kilometres away!

I'd always go the other way if I was trying for 10k - ie try to get to 5k in 19.30 - 19.40, then just cling on for as long as possible. Actually I'd aim for 2.5k in 9.30 & then 2m / 500m splits thru to 5k.<br />
<br />
If I try it the other way I find I have no chance.<br />
<br />
That said I haven't done 10k this year  <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

Heya Mog, me either!!  10k seems a million miles at the moment!!  I usually goe hard out for as long as possible and then hold on for as long as possible too!!  But have also rowed within myself as above and been left with juice in the tank at the end.  When you get to that last 2k, and the last 1000 in particular, all bets are off, lungs be damned, full speed ahead.  So if you can be in control for those first 8-9 k!!

Ouch just done a 40:36<br />
<br />
First 10k attempt in just over a month<br />
<br />
I injured my trap doing wieghts and couldn't row for two weeks.. it's taken this long to get any half decent pace back. Only a short time off but it takes so long to close to where I was  😢

you might be surprised Duluth.  I have done sod all miles lately, and am 'only' 10 seconds outside my PB for 5k.  So you should get your rowing legs back pretty quick I reckon.  Just slot onto your normal pace, and then hold on as long as you can maybe?  At least, that is what I am going to try today when I do a 5k time trial!!

First crack at 10,000 and punched out a 37:11.1. I was on 37.02 with 150m to go but was pushing it too hard and started to dry retch. Its not cool vomiting in the gym so I slowed down a bit. I reckon I can crack 37 with a bit of effort.<br />

I still need a 5,000, 1,000 or 500 for the full collection but getting there.<br />

After a couple of dodgy 10,000 attempts (including one where I didnt finish it), I pulled out a 36:45.6 this morning. Felt quite strong as well. Hopefully that will come down a bit more.
