I have always been a tall and skinny bloke (79kgs at present), and have recently decided it was time to pack on a few pounds.

I have started a weights routine but am a bit confused as to the best way to supplement this with nutrition. There seems to be so many weight gain powders and supplements out there and I would have no idea which works best. A few of my mates have taken creatine, but I have heard bad things about effects down the track when using it. I have also heard of a few more radical techniques, such as eating a steak before bed. At the end of the day though I am completely in the dark on all of it, as every source seems to have a different opinion on weight gain solutions.

So I would love to hear any pieces of advice you all could give me on this issue.

    Weight gain? Mate - I'm the GURU!!!! <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />
But seriously, as discussed in various threads on weight loss: Energy in = energy out. If you've always been skinny, then you probably have a good metabolic rate - don't let go of that, but simply try to put in extra food each day. Not junk - keep eating good food by all means - but just a bit more of it.

Would help if you gave examples of your typical eating day and what exercise you're doing each week.

Also, I'd go see a doctor a checkup and discussion of healthy weight gain process - maybe you've got a mutha tape worm up your butt

Talk to Fullermorg. He has put on a truckload and he was a weed when I first met him.

I got this from an article which sought to separate all the different advice and tell you the essential supplements for gaining weight, these are:

Fish Oil supplements
Creatine
and extra food/whey protein
