Similar - sprint across dead ball line, jog up touchline to tryline, sprint back across that, jog to 22, sprint across, then 10m line, sprint across... jog to half way, sprint across.. then 10m .. etc to the dead ball line. Couple of sets of that and you are gone
Colts fitness coach was an ex army PT instructor and a complete bastard. One of only a couple of people who have made me hurl during a training session.

Run from tryline to other tryline and back x 10 - start every 60 seconds
5 min break
Run from tryline to far 22 and back x 10 - start every 45 seconds
5 minute break
Run from tryline to halfway and back x 10 - start every 30 seconds
5 minute break
Run from tryline to closest 22 and back x 10 - start every 15 seconds
Finished.
This session will sort out who is fit and who isnt, the unfit guys will be continually running, unable to complete the lenghts before the time, they will usually start spewing about half to three quarters of the way through the exercise. The fit guys will manage but will be hurting - a real blowout. do this exercise once a week pre season and you should be right for the comp.

I understand now why I shall forever remain a fat bastard.

However, on the rare occasions I trained (rugby league), we had one particularly fit bastard who'd play follow the leader - he'd start running (usually on the line markings on the field) and you had to keep up, the only rule was every time he shouted the person at the back had to run to the front position, but remain behind him. Sometimes you'd be running on the touchline and he'd start sprinting. If you didn't keep up he'd make you do it again.

    Sparky's diamond runs.

Line all the side under the posts. Forwards go first. They have to run a diamond touching all four lines inside a minute. Then the backs go, they have to beat the forwards' time or else they go again straight away with the forwards. Then the forwards go and have to beat the backs' time or else they go again with the backs. Then the backs go and have to beat the forwards' time or else they go again with the forwards and so on and so on until everyone is fucked.

I have often made kids spew with this one.

You guys are talking my language. It brings a tear to my eye. This is how I love to train. How about 800 meter intervals, where you run at a fast jog for 700 meters, then sprint at top speed for the remaining 100. Repeat using the same technique (jog followed by top-speed sprint for remaining 100 meters) as follows:

Intervals:

2 x 800
2 x 400
2 x 100 (all-out sprint)

Rest about 1 minute between sets.

This is chunk-blowing training at its finest. It builds incredible leg strength and endurance and builds mental toughness.

Used to do 300m sprints every training session Tues, Weds, Thur. A minimum of 10. Sprint the distance around track, walk 100m back to start, then go again. Fark me days. Evil.
What is the distance between the lines in the diamond, Sparky? Sounds like something I could inflict at next Monday nights training session. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/invision/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

I think he means from under the posts to the touchline at halfway, then up to the other set of posts and down to the OTHER touchline at halfway, then back to the starting spot 😕
