Brain worms are the only explanation for picking him ahead of Ioane.

Akira on the line saves two trys last night, Lucky Luke gets a yellow card and lets in a million trys.

It was a pretty marginal yellow though. Looked like it was a knock on in the tackle.

(though I think he was offside anyway, and with all the PK's that might have been enough for a YC)

Nah, he was on his knees and slapped the ball down. Was dumb.

Ball was out of the ruck though I thought. Him being on his knees is neither here nor there. I didn't think he slapped the ball.

Oh well I will just have to wait for the replay (fat chance of me watching that).

If the rest of the team could lift their efforts to within a mile of Hemopo and Thomas we might be in this.

You can make a tackle though.

Well my memory of Antiques Roadshow is better than that of the game last night, but I thought he was trying to make a tackle of the player with the ball and his hand contacted the ball as a pass was attempted.

It is technically true that a player off their feet cannot make a tackle, but in my humble opinion it would take a very officious referee to penalise the player in that instance with one knee on the ground.

Having said all that, I think he was pretty clearly offside in the redzone after a number of team PK's and the YC was deserved for his being offside. In fact that was what I thought it was for until the ref made his secondary signal.

I enjoyed the win but coming third in the NZ conference could be worse than fourth. Would you rather play the Canes/Saders or Rebels in your first knockout game?

I would not want to play the Waratahs in Sydney in the first round of the playoffs.

                  Finally finished tape!

Best game from Messam for yonks. Excellent. Thought Weber was sharp and had the better of Nugget for much of game. Chiefs inside backs (DMac/Ngatai/ALB) looked good. DMac a bit erratic as always, mixture of good and bad. Ngatai quality, maturity great to have at 12 (but think DMac may have only have passed to him once?). ALB very good. Alaimalo razor sharp.

For clan Sopoaga ran some great lines and used short ball well (DMac take note). Much better with replacement front row on. Frizzell injected some energy and threw himself around. Try well deserved.

Disjointed match and hard not to feel Chiefs rested on their laurels after blowing Clan away.

Not a lot being said about DMac. Thought he was the pick of the 10s this weekend. Led his team brilliantly.

Not surprising. DMac is usually only mentioned in a positive light, just so the writer can then point out the other reasons why they don't like him and don't want him near the AB's.
