    haha, that is one of the things I was referring to in a couple of the latest Mens Health Mags I have; running is only good for fitness and not the best for weight loss.<br />
    <br />
    My body would disagree!

    Well, that is fucked. Burn is burn. There is a reason long distance runners are so skinny.<br />

    Correction - maybe it isn't THE BEST for weight loss. But when you're running distance there are no excuses - you can't take a break like you do on the bike or in the gym. Crossfit I'm absolutely convinced is good too but when you say "I will run 10km in 55 minutes" there are very few ways to get there except to actually keep moving at the required pace, and burn the required number of calories.

    I've always found running to be very effective for weight loss but really it's just another way of improving the ratio of calories in to calories out

    LIke most things, I expect some will find running works much better for them than others, as I said, it was amusing that a couple of these mags were preaching the same thing, yet one about 4 months back was saying other, so you do what works for you.

    I've found running to be the only cardio which I can be confident that I will loose weight on. There are other types which is better for fitness but I always shred weight when I get into running

    Ate too much Chinese last night, but you just can't reheat honey king prawns so it was a community service.<br />
    <br />
    Decided a ride was in order today - been a while since I hopped on the aluminium pony so I eschewed the sleep in and banged out just over 30 km in just under 70 minutes - 25.89km/h for those keeping score. Felt pretty good overall and once the summer heat dies off a bit I'll start doing some longer distances.<br />
    <br />
    Not that I should complain: Hobart recorded it's hottest temperature on record yesterday - 41.8! When you have a seas side city at that latitude you know something is up. Going to be a big bushfire season...<br />

    Been a bit of a slob this weekend but thought I'd remedy that with some quick weights at home before putting the kids to bed. Was using a 30 second break between sets.<br />
    <br />
    Chin ups: 10, 8, 5, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 2 = 42. <br />
    Arnies @ 14.25kg: 20, 10, 8, 6, 5, 5, 5, 5, 6, 6 = 76.<br />
    Bent row @ 50 kg: 17, 10, 5, 4, 4, 5, 4, 4, 4, 5 = 62. Have to touch the chest!<br />
    <br />
    Shoulders aching nicely - felt a little nauseous even. Total time was about 23 minutes

    Was planning to run 5-7 km tonight but hit 4 and just quit. 22 minutes in, I just didn't have it for some reason. I've curbed the eating back quite heavily today so maybe that's it. Or it could be the fact it's about 28 degrees and 60% humidity. Either way, felt bad.<br />
    <br />
    I've decided after 5 years at Woolworths that it's time to move jobs now Miss TA is about to start school (which was always the plan). So I'm dusting off the CV and getting ready to try and snare a pay increase, in addition to getting back to a smaller company. <br />
    <br />
    Corporates have a lot of benefits, but quite frankly the place is beginning to suck from an IT POV. I'm sure the other nerds on here can understand that there is nothing worse than having your opinion dismissed out out hand, especially when you're the only SME in the room, or the whole division...<br />
    <br />
    If you know me on Facebook, please don't bring it up as management have NOT been informed <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /><br />

    With the confidence of the new me I reckon it's not going to be as hard as it used to be. I certainly rock a suit a lot harder.

    Subject Matter Expert. I discovered I was one by default when everyone was amazed that I did something my previous employers would have considered not far above routine. <br />
    <br />
    When I started doing the amazing stuff they nearly burned me as a witch. <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol:' />

    Hundred pushups Week 5 Day 1 again - using 90s rest periods<br />
    <br />
    Set 1: 36 OK<br />
    Set 2: 30 OK, 10 on knees<br />
    Set 3: 20 OK, 10 on knees<br />
    Set 4: 18 OK, 6 on knees - reached for the extra 30s rest<br />
    Set 5: 20 OK, 20 on knees<br />
    <br />
    Feel like I'm not making any progress here. Bit downcast.<br />

    I haven't had time to have a look at all of your training routine. But one thing that helped me reach 200 push ups was lifting heavy weights for triceps.<br />
    I did 3 workouts for my tris, lifting heavy weights (4 if u include close grip bench). Big arms + small body = easy push ups

    Yeah I recon you're right - the triceps are what generally seem to feel the pain first. I don't really do any targeted triceps weight but it might be time to start

    you should really be doing more triceps than biceps, given the size of the muscles...although the guns are always a 'must do' exercise and the triceps are often not viewed as important in an arm workout (generalisation)<br />
    <br />
    60% humidity, pfft, I went running in 26 deg and >90% humidity a few weeks back.... <img src='http://www.daimenhutchison.com/rugby/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

    I too have run in the rain 🙂 <br />
    <br />
    Gym this morning before work:<br />
    <br />
    500m row in 1:46<br />
    Shrugs on the Smith rack: warmup 6 x 40kg, 10 x 60, 10 x 70, 10 x 70<br />
    Incline dbell: warmup 6 x 10kg, 10 x 20, 10 x 25, 7 x 25<br />
    Hammer curl dbell: warmup 6 x 10kg, 10 x 15, 7 x 15<br />
    Bicep curl dbell: 6 x 10kg, then a set where i failed hard starting 3 x 15 then dropped to 3 x 12.5 then dropped to 4 x 10<br />
    Bench press dbell: warmup 6 x 20, 10 x 60, 10 x 60, 7 x 60<br />
    Hanging knee raise: 3 x 10<br />
    <br />
    Popped something in my neck during the bicep exercises so I may need to see the chiropractor if it doesn't settle down

    Chiro (new girl and very tidy) managed to crack my neck both ways so it can't be that bad. Still feeling a bit stiff tho. Will give it a break for a few days and then try again. She worked my right biceps very hard so I'm icing that up now. <br />
    <br />
    With the weather running over 40 degrees today the temp is likely to stay above 30 tonight with a change coming through around 2am supposedly. Try to get a good night's sleep and see if I can run in the morning without too much discomfort.
