Unsure what I have done, but my 'expert' opinion it is somethign to do with my ribs, but what?

    Who knows!

Last week I could feel it on the left front and left back when I took a deep breath, today, is just on the front/left.

Doesnt really stop me doing too much, worst is when I get in bed the first few breaths are shallow then I am fine.

Shit that sucks Mate. Hopefully it goes over in the next couple of days. Could it be the way you sleep?

@rancid-schnitzel I dont think so (only usually sleep on my back)

I felt it last Tuesday when I tried to lift a heavy deadlift, been getting better, albeit slowly.

I have a vague recollection of a similar feeling when I restarted the gym last year and put the weight belt on a bit tight.

Deads are a weird exercise, it’s easy to make big initial gains ( or maybe regains is a better word ) but if you get excited about doing well, smash them to failure and don’t have enough rest days it’s easy to suddenly regress again.

It’s no wonder serious weightlifters and powerlifters have structured programmes they follow to a tee.

They assist heaps with other pulling exercises like pull ups and chin ups bloody well too.

        @taniwharugby

        Might be an intercostal strain?

I’ve had that before.. the worst was when there was pollen in the air and I couldn’t stop sneezing. Every sneeze hurt and was immediately followed by a swear word. Sounded like I had tourrets

@taniwharugby I've had intercostal strains at least 5 times and they take 2 weeks to go away. Most important is to avoid sex and laughing.

reaggravated my strain about 10 days ago (not as bad as initially) but still slight strain.

Seems only deadlifts that bother it, so after having done these pretty much every workout for a month, having now only done them once in a month is frustrating to say the least (yes I was trying deadlifts when I aggravated it - only lighter at 120kg)

Battling with my weight at present, sitting just under 100kg

Ah that’s shit. It’s the back isn’t it? Do you have one of those pads you can warm up in the microwave to place on your back? I’ve found them to be really effective.

@rancid-schnitzel yeah pretty much, is all but ok now, so I'm probably gonna give it another week before testing it, just to be sure.

I have been using a wheat pack and yep, they are good

Just use Deep Heat. That cures absolutely everything.

looking back over my posts, been about 6 weeks since I hurt myself, extended due to impatience a couple of weeks back.

So did 5 sets of deads for first time in 6 weeks, only went upto 120kg (x5 reps) and then did 3 sets of 5 at 100kg as well and felt fine.

So will start easing back into these as I try to get my weight back up again, workouts have been a bit flat in recent weeks due to not being able to do deads!!

had posted some time back about front squats and the struggle with my flexibility mainly.

Have been working on them the past few weeks, and did a PB of 100kg, failed on 110kg.

Only issue I notice is that when I am squatted down, my right glute sits lower than my left (I know my right hip flexor is generally tighter than my left) so have found some exercises for my hips to do, so will see what that does!

This guy (on YT & IG) has some good stuff...dude has been diagnosed with Cancer

Upto 150 on dead today, while still well short of my PB it was a PB without straps or belt, body feeling pretty good, especially with the hip mobility stuff I been doing.

Front squat pb of 110kg, had asked TRJnr to spot but didn't need him and he was pushing me to go higher as I did it easy, but I didn't go up again.

Best deadlift since injury in mid may, 165 today, straps, no belt.

Did some good volume though, felt good!

Matched my deadlift PB today, felt quite easy so added 2.5kg more and I may as well have added 100kg for how much heavier it felt.

                                      😂 Ridiculous how that works.

I was watching Eddie Hall today - he took the WR from 465 straight to 500. Don't know that I've quite thought that thru till now how incredible that is.

man, zero motivation to do exercise on day 4 of lockdown, done nothing any other days yet either.

Wake up with good intentions, but as the day goes on, I honestly cant be arsed, maybe I need try do something in the morning...

Sorry to hear that Mate. The changes in routines and uncertainty can really fook with you. Must be absolutely awful for those who aren't in a good place ar the best of times. The clear message after more than a year is that exercise and good health (I.e. losing weight) are essential but I guess that isn't what people want to hear. Ultimately you want to be as best equipped as possible to fight this thing if you ever get it and that should be motivation enough to pump that iron 💪.
