Zero variation in the Russian attack. Tackling practice for Samoa.

That seems to have flicked the switch for Samoa.

    Lyn Jones must be furious.

Russia had a chance to go in at half-time in the lead with still minutes left on the YC.

Could have played it tight in the second half and let Samoa makes mistakes and get frustrated.

Could have come away with a famous victory.

    No chance now.

Passes starting to stick for the Samoans now with the Russians beginning to tire.

Kane Leaupepe has been the best out there imo.

    Gutted for Amosa.

What is the point of wheeling Amosa back out to watch the match bandaged up and on crutches?

    Get washed and get resting.

So behind other sports when it comes to injury.

@Bovidae split second to react, yes. But if a player sprints in from 25m away as Matu seemed to with head down and launches himself headfirst at the opposition he has to know that he won't be in a position to make that split second adjustment. Which is reckless by any definition

Watching delayed. The Le Lo hit.

That is barely a penalty let alone a yellow.

    Fucking dumb commentators.

Fuck. Thank goodness they didn't go red.

@MiketheSnow Maybe he wants to watch his team get their - probably - only win of the RWC? (I think they'll have to play a lot better to beat Japan).

@MiketheSnow said in RWC: Russia v Samoa (Pool A):

ITV studio - Maggie Alfonsi, Michael Lynagh, Gareth Thomas, Martyn Bayfield - all saying both should have been red.

Their reasoning, even if the ball carrier had dipped slightly the responsibility is on the tackler to dip more.

Players have a split second to react so it's not that simple.

But I am looking forward to them saying Farrell should be sent off for one of his tackles.

Reaction time doesn't matter when you go in that high, very slim margin of success. The tackler needs to be much more careful, you just can't aim at the shoulders, it's simple.

@Bones Under the framework, it does - to a degree - matter for the possibility to apply mitigating factors. (Or apply aggravating factors, one of the two).
