The Springboks have rotated their squad for Saturday’s must-win cross-border battle with northern neighbours Namibia, making 13 changes to the starting line-up that appeared in the opening Rugby World Cup clash with New Zealand.

Rassie Erasmus, director of rugby, said the Boks have to regain their momentum and decided to give first appearances in the competition to nine players, while Makazole Mapimpi (left wing) and Lukhanyo Am (centre) are the only players from the 23-13 reverse against New Zealand, to make back-to-back starts.

In addition, six of the opening day starting XV re-appear on the bench – including captain Siya Kolisi – while all of last Saturday’s replacements (with the exception of injured Jesse Kriel) are in the starting lineup.

Brits is a natural flanker that can scrum a bit.

It is unusual, although something that was talked about in SA prior to the tournament.
There are 3 hookers in the squad. But our cover at no.8 (and in fact at loosie in general) is a bit thin.

And as @ACT-Crusader said, Brits often tends to play more like a flanker anyway. Will be interesting to see if Brits sticks to 8 or alternates a bit with Kwagga or Flo - both of whom have played 8 before.

It's probably the biggest improvement the Boks have seen under Rassie - the building of decent depth.
There are still some weak spots - flyhalf being one of them although if you have witnessed the panning Pollard has been taking from some Saffa fans after our last game, you'd swear we have absolutely zero depth there.

Namibia coach Phil Davies has made sweeping changes to his team for the Pool B match against South Africa at City of Toyota Stadium on Saturday. 

There are 10 changes from the starting line-up who lost 47-22 to Italy last Sunday. Only captain Tjiuee Uanivi, Cliven Loubser, JC Greyling, pictured, Chad Plato, and Johan Tromp return. This is the second-highest number of changes they have made between RWC matches - the highest being 11 when preparing to face Argentina at Rugby World Cup 2015.

The missed forward pass was disgusting refereeing. No excuse, was static ball from base of a ruck, no forward momentum to consider. Pathetic. Get better at your job.
