    <p>A pretty good friend from sport and school is a roidy. He's a PT and a smart dude... I just can't reconcile all that and using roids in my head. He's about 140kg and 6" or 6"1' and an absolute unit. But what for? It ain't functional strength and it sure ain't aesthetics! imo at least</p>

    I wonder if it's a type of reverse anorexia. Instead of stressing about being too big they have a complex about not being big enough.<br><br>
    A couple of months ago I saw the doco Generation Iron which I guess is a type of sequel to the famous Pumping Iron from the 70s. Arnie and co were all roiding it back in the day but imo they still looked pretty good. The present generation are farking grotesque. All of them look the same and have roid bellies. I respect that it takes superhuman commitment to get that big even with the roids, but I cant see the point. Unless you're Mr Olympia the money is pretty shit as well

    <p>Wednesday: Week started off well but pretty much went to poo this day. Got out for my run, but not before 10:45. That's too farking late.</p>

    <p>Thursday: Shocking day. Worked 16 hours plus taking and picking kids up from school, plus all the rest of it. Too farked to do anything. Felt like shart.</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>Friday: Shoulders in morning which went ok. Shoulder press, shrugs, front raises, side raises, face pulls. Not bad at all. Another stressful day though, and dinner is starting to suffer. Obviously diet just as important as training. If not more.</p>

    <p>Saturday: Back and legs. Great session. Really good. Great way to start the weekend.</p>

    <p>Sunday: Couldn't do morning run because eldest had first rugby game. Came home rather pumped (rugby will do that to you) and when a mate phoned asking if I wanted to head to the gym I was glad to accept. Being a cardio day I hit the treadmill and in many ways went the full retard. I did a lazy click, then decided to do 10x400m intervals at 16km/h. When I was warming down my mate asked how steep the incline on the treadmill went. It went to 15 degrees, so I did another click of walking up that. Felt good when I was done, but of course hit the wall shortly after. Nearly fell asleep while doing the Sunday big shop and then collapsed when I got home. Soccer for the boys later on and early in bed. No chance of getting up early for chest today. Will take it this evening.</p>

    <p>Unfortunately another prick of a weeks is in store so I had to condense chest and biceps today:</p>

    <p>Flat bench, incline, flys+crossovers,</p>
    <p>Barbell curls, incline curls</p>
    <p>Concentration curls+ pushups</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>Good workout.</p>
    <p> </p>
    <p>Will have to change things up significantly as I have been roped into doing a half-marathon in June. I don't want to cut down too much on the weights, but it will be hard sustaining all that running as well. Will start the HM programme next week and see how I go. One things for sure, with all that running I will be chomping down on a lot more chow.</p>

    Wednesday was a total crunt of a day. No chance of training then.<br><br>Thursday: Shoulders and triceps. No mucking around with this one.<br>Shoulder press, front raises, side raises<br>Behind neck trilift, pushdowns, kickbacks<br><br>Not too bad, but need more sleep. Youngest scared shit into me when he came into our room in the middle of night. He's a tall and skinny 6 year old, and in the moonlight his shape looked like one of those farking aliens. Farking heart palpitations.<br><br>Hope for a good end to the week with some ddddeadlifts beatchh.

    <p>Bro, smashing some tin will help keep you sane-ish! Amazing how much better you feel during/after a crazy day or week or work when you can get in a good workout. Can be tough when you are knackered or have had enough of people though. That's why you've pretty much won the war by just getting to the gym, after that it's just sweet reps for jesus!!</p>

    Never was a truer word spoken. Don't know how I'd feel if I was a motionless pie-eater. Probably incredibly depressed.<br><br>Very nice session today. Deadlifts, lat pulldowns, cable row, barbell row 50x3.<br><br>Then had to carry my son's double bass to school. Damn thing is huge. He wanted to play saxafone but he's tall so they talked him into playing this. I guess that complimented what was a pretty damn good workout.<br><br>Now to watch the Canes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Saturday was a pretty disgusting day. Crap weather and nothing much done at all. Ate way to much junk and felt like crap the next morning. Am a fan of cheat days, but should at least have a halfway active day. Not good. Actually no I did do 50 ab roles in the morning which it still pretty pathetic.<br><br>Sunday: Bit better. Went for run after son's rugby game, which was lucky because it pissed down after that.<br><br>Monday: Chest. Excellent workout as usual. I'm warming up using that knees up ab machine. Works out well because I'm usually running out of time towards the end and abs are often sacrificed. Noticing the difference too. Was going to start half-marathon training this week, but since I'm heading to NZ for a long-weekend on Thursday, I'll get started next week.

    Had some time off in the country of my birth from Thursday to Monday. Great time fishing off the Coromandel. Apart from a longish hike, there was absolutely no training and a great deal of crap was eaten. In my defence I spewed my guts out when fishing and had to of course replenish those lost calories. I did so with gusto. I can see how easy it is to fall off the wagon.<br><br>Anyway, back to the gym yesterday:<br><br>Chest, biceps<br><br>And today:<br><br>Shoulders.<br><br>Will hit it again tomorrow morning, but will then be down the coast for Easter. Will try to run each day when I'm there.

    We chartered a boat from Whangamata. Was rough as,(both the boat and the sea) and there was plenty of projectile vomiting. One of my mates pretty much had his head permanently over the side. But the fishing was amazing. There was a fish on the line pretty much as soon as you dropped the line in the water. Tasted great that night as well.<br><br>
    Hiking was at Hahei. Beautiful spot. The whole area is beautiful in fact.

    Back and tris this morning. Yeah the deadlifts.<br><br>
    Feeling buggered and sore now. 3 days in a row is a bit much but had to cram it in.<br><br>
    Now down the Coast for Easter. Why is its impossible to eat healthy at a restaurant btw? There's never any "clean" food to be found.

    Morning run. Really struggled with this even though it was flat the entire way. The half marathon is in the morning so I'll have to get used to morning runs. Some nice er views this morning as well which is a welcome distraction.

    Another morning run. Again a bit of a struggle. Am going to have to manage this a bit better re stretching and recovery.

    <p>It typically takes me (prop and outside back reserve) 3-5 runs to get things feeling smoother. Can take a while to get everything dialled in. Especially if you are carrying some long term niggles or are coming back from an injury, Gotta make sure you don't over compensate etc. I'd expect cardio the day after squats/deads would be tough. And if you lift in the evening and run in the morning that's like 10-12 hours recovery max?? ouchie</p>

    Yeah mate, I'm going to have to plan this better. I run like Forrest in the evening, buts that's often after a 12plus hour day and I'm busting to get out. Morning is a completely different dynamic.<br><br>
    Ended up being a pretty active day. Walked about 5km to the hole that is Surfers Paradise, including about 2 of that with the 6 year old on the shoulders. Spent 3 hours at Timezone and then walked all the way back. Not a bad effort that. Did I mention Surfers Paradise is a hole?

    First official day of half-marathon training. This will involve 4 runs and 3 weight sessions during the week. Will be interesting to see how that goes and I will have to be very careful with how I manage it. One day will involve weights in the morning and run at night.<br><br>This morning was just weights: Chest plus biceps.<br>Was a good session for the most part. Only problem was I was dying for a shit right near the end and couldn't get into the toilet. No staff on today and when that happens, the changing rooms are locked and only allow one person in at a time. Farking ridiculous. I presume the prick in there was taking a shower or an epic poo, because after about 5 minutes I had to bail. Good thing I live close by. Did my business, then finished up with some AB rolls at home.<br><br>Tomorrow: 50 minute run. I should really do this on the treadmill, but at the moment the idea of standing on that machine for that long bores the hell out of me.<br><br>Not too concerned about the diet for this. Always eat a good breakfast and lunch. Will eat whatever for dinner. I've barely started this bad boy and I'm constantly hungry already.
