Thanks Smuts and congratulations to you and the other Saffer posters. Deserved winners and in truth it didn't look like going the other way almost from the off. We ddin't really get to fire a shot, which is down to the level of control your boys had. Well played Bokke.

As with most countries, the real rugby people are wonderful. Sadly, it’s the bandwagon jumpers, bringing their petty footballing fan culture, that ruin it for everyone. England, quite naturally given the size of their population just tend to have more than most
This is the sort of shit that I hate about rugby in this country - the people who put themselves on a pedestal because the like rugby. Or call people “rugby guys” like it’s some sort of compliment.

I'm going to disagree with you on that one, MR. Rugby, as a sport, is built on certain values, which are driven not just by tradition, but also what it takes to actually go out and play (courage, determination, teamwork, respect etc.). In short, you have to be a certain kind of person to put yourself on the field and play rugby (even do the bare minimum).

If you haven't seen the post match press conference with the Boks it is well worth a watch. Full credit to both men and the Bok team as a whole, pure class. Rassie had a story they all bought into, much like how Razor does with the Crusaders.

As for Sinkcler and Itoje not wearing their medals: I have no problem with that. They're young men who just lost the biggest game of their lives. They were hurting, but tomorrow they'll look back and appreciate what they learned.
My comparison is getting a silver at the olympics. Would be all sorts of shit thrown at someone that refused to have their silver medal put around their neck or to rip it off straight away.
See the Olympics are respected as the pinnacle. What Itoje and Sinkcler did was disrespect the very competition they were aiming to claim glory from. 'If we don't win it then it is shit' was the message they gave.
Sport means sucking up your disappointments as well as revelling in successes. It also means respecting the oppositions achievements.

Mrs Boo didn't last the match last night so I mention this morning "So the slightly less bad guys won".
She says (having checked news web sites) "Quite controversial apparently". Seems she had read some comment about "Kiwi TMO" Skeenie and forward passes. I've been hunting for said comments but can't find anything.
I can only assume it was referring to the Marx pass to Mapimpi that they had a close look at. From behind (which was the angle they seemed to concentrate on) it looked line ball at worst. From side on it goes backwards. Not much controversial in that.
Did see Stuff.co.nz have a reference to "controversial" in the banner headline that flashed up when I clicked on them, but could find no further reference.
Has there been much comment on the scrum officiating?
All looked clean and good to me.

If that's the case, I find it very interesting, because Youngs throws dozens of line-ball passes every single match to their big ball runners, which no one seems to notice or comment on.

What riles me are the fair weather posh club-type fans. Don't buy tickets to RWC semis because don't want to watch anyone but their darlings. But if England DO make it they all jump on the bandwagon and swarm over. Just the worst winners, because all they can do is gloat.
Know ABs (and yes their fans) have had their arrogant ways, but they handled themselves very well, and the Japanese love them.

All the English pundits are talking about is Sinckler going off.
No mention of the Boks players being subbed.
@MiketheSnow is there generally a big discrepancy in scrummaging ability between Sinckler and Cole? It was a shame that we didn't get to see any scrums before he left the field to see what impact his departure made.

Another poster (was it @NTA ?) had it right in pointing the finger at Itoje. If anyone played their final early it was him. The scrum problems seemed to occur on his side with the sealing evidence when he changed over.
England's scrum wasn't dominant against us. They had some good moments but the Bokke unit were really up for it, they would have troubled us as well (especially when the reserves came on) -

My gut is the only thing keeping my shoulders above knee level. That's why it is called "prop"

So I'm finally ready to post some thoughts on this game.
To start, my commiserations to the England guys on TSF. Right now it won't feel fantastic, but you can be proud of your team's performance over the course of this RWC. You played some excellent rugby and were deserved finalists.
But as opposed to SA's semi against Wales where the Boks played not to lose, in the final England ran into a Bok team that actually played to win. In addition to the usual forward grunt, box kicks and swarming defence, the Boks decided to also run at the English. This, together with early good field position, the loss of Sinckler, the Bok scrum dominance and then the first 3 points, I think put the English on the back foot. And they never really recovered.
It was without a doubt the best game the Boks played the whole tournament. Hard, uncompromising, disciplined and smart. I couldn't be more proud of them. This feels at least as good as 1995. Maybe even better because there were no Luyt-like dickhead statements afterwards from SA officials - at least none that I have seen
