There was no one there at all.

Play in front of two half asleep men and a dog in Super Rugby or in front of a noisy crowd of 70,000+ in London, Paris or Cardiff?

Who can blame the players for heading to Europe?

But average premiership crowds are around the same, or lower, as super rugby, but they do have big peaks in some games and Heineken cup (as was)

To be fair though Newcastle is hardly a Rugby Union town, with the poor weather added to that. They barely get out to support their League side these days. Obviously Brookvale Oval was unavailable?

@African-Monkey I agree , why would you take it to a league stronghold..?,makes no sense..,Brookvale even thought it’s the home of Manly would have been a much better option ..at least it’s not far all the rugby heads to travel

Lineout looked much better when Parsons came on, so he should start again.

He was fine. One of the more under rated players in NZ. I’m not saying he’s that good.. prob the 10th, 11th or 12th hooker in the country but no where near as bad as most people claim

@Duluth he is a solid super level 2, worthy of a spot in the Blues (particularly with all the young guys, by all accounts is a top bloke) issue is more if he is the main starting rake...but then that isn't his fault I guess.

The Tahs are moving around a lot this year - Newcastle, Wollongong, Parramatta, Tamworth

The weather this week was a disaster though. They'd have to work hard to get a crowd in Newcastle in good weather.

Is Perofeta possibly the poorest 1st in any NZ franchise ..?, because if he can’t manage a team around the paddock or kick goals , what the hell does he do..?

Handsome lad. Wears the jersey well.
                    Important at this level.

Well that was refreshing to see the Blues maintain their composure. Forwards were excellent and the defense pretty outstanding. When PT hits someone it is a thing of beauty. Perofeta was not bad in the first half and at least his kicking was better than Plummer. Dalton P is playing well and Kart T was a handful and I see him walking back into the ABs.

Newcastle, apart from being a shithole, is where Australian teams go to lose. Add to that the weather and it's perfectly obvious we wouldn't have got a crowd.

The Tahs don't have a home while this is Allianz Stadium:

Okay, a guardedly optimistic Blues supporter here.

The forwards, especially when OTA came on were excellent. Karl T is really looking the goods, made yards with every carry.

The fact that they were able to diffuse the 'Tahs mauls and were dominant in the scrum.

With Beaudy to come in and steer the cutter behind that pack has me looking forward to the remainder of the tournament.

                            And... Akira who?
Sotutu played really well and didn't deserve that yellow card. What has impressed me most is his work-rate. With him and Patty T working in tandem we have two imposing defenders.

Akira came on and looks fat and disinterested, yet again. That guy just doesn't seem to have it between the ears. All the talent in the world but doesn't look to have the drive.

There was that one tackle where his jersey got pulled right up exposing his trunk and quite frankly, what you saw was very disappointing for what should be a first class athlete.
