That's BS, we had two players cleaning out then, just because you're competing it doesn't mean it's an automatic penalty.

@Nepia I mean...you can see the player on the ground pulling it back out of his hands...

The camera team have been shit, they keep going to close ups so we don’t actually see what the ref is calling, just hear the whistle blow

He was looking fakatava , no eyes for anyone else or the ball...he’s gone

You can see the realisation in his eyes when the other guy come flying in

If we lose I'll then change my comment and say we were robbed as it should have been a red. 😉

The Bay halfback was probably more of a factor in the fall. The Otago player did try and halt his momentum when he realised the other Bay player had jumped.

Dixon should be reminded he's not playing soccer.

                                  YC seems fair.

think the ref was pretty clear, tipped by own player, reckless play by Otago and still a card, if he landed on his head different, but he didn't according to how they saw and explained it. Think Ash just wanted straight red

I think that’s all correct but missing he still has realisability to protect the player isn’t he air, if he’d been watching the ball and gone up himself it might have been different

Its contact with a player in the air, who landed on his head. It's red by the rules, unless you're a coward who doesn't want to make a call in a big game.

Shouldn't be though, cause it's pretty much accidental.
                                        But those are the rules.

He probably thought the Bay halfback was going to take it. He was in position to do it. But the fullback came flying in.

All within his right to do.

I don’t disagree with the YC. It was more an unfortunate one in my book.
