Automatic return to "recent"/"categories" tab and error messages

The last week or so, it has happened multiple times that I've been thrown out of threads while reading or writing posts. When that happens, my screen automatically goes back to the "recent" tab or "categories" tab (I can't remember which one, didn't pay attention).
As of today, I'm not always sent back to the "recent"/"categories" tab, but get an empty screen with this error message.
Any reason why this is happening?
I'm accessing the Fern on a PC (Windows 7; Chrome).

@Duluth Being thrown out of threads and return to another screen: earlier in the week maybe twice a day. Yesterday, at least 3-4 times. Today, once.
The error message: only today, twice.
It's definitely something recent. It happens more often when I'm writing a post than when I'm just reading posts.

Ok, no idea. Nothing is changing or has changed recently (apart from bumping the service maybe once every 3 days)
I haven't seen it myself
There's a few things I need to update. That'll happen in about 2 weeks, hopefully it improves after that
