@mackerzzzz no it isn't. Its a scrum for kick not going 10

It is when it's at the death like that

    Since when?

    As per anonymous.

It's not a law it's just what refs will do

I can't say I buy it. If your kicker fluffs it, it's automatically a penalty? Nah.

If you're actually trying to kick it 10 metres it's different though.

You could also says it's bad sportsmanship which is not allowed. It seems like an Australian thing to do. Like bowling an underarm...

No I understand that. But what I can't figure out, is what you're going off for intent. How on earth do you ascertain if a kicker is purposely duffing it? I'm intrigued.

You cant that's subjective, not something you can rule on.

A similar thing you can't do is say you're kicking at goal from a penalty then not kick for it. It comes down to whether the attempt looks genuine.

Same with things like intentionally knocking the ball forward or placing/knocking/throwing into touch/dead. They're all subjective as well.

I can see how they could if he say kicked it a metre, but not if he made it look "genuine". Like the penalty shot @Anonymous mentioned, if you clearly kick it straight at the corner, it's pretty obvious.

              Sick of the referrals nowadays.
Well done Highlanders. Dominated in the loosies and front row. Disappointed by some of the illegal intent from the blues forwards. Some A Bs way off top form but all credit to Papalii and Ruru was good too. Harmon is going so well for Landers and Johnstone and De Groot were great today too.

Hope Gregory is ok, strapped knee makes me flitch a little, he’s been aloud at 12 and could be real good with Collins at 13

@kiwiwomble is just doing his job, getting the ball wide, making his tackles (fell off akira though) and cleans alot of rucks.

Think he's def playing to a plan or within himself as a few occasions i thought could step and gas it he drew and passed.

Looked to be running ok later

Kick off it’s a harder to determine if it’s on purpose or a fuckup.

Wow! Loved that! That young loosehead from the Clan looks good (replacement today). Anyone who can stand up to Nepo Laulala at scrum time is worthy of mention.
For the Blues, no. 14 & 15 offer very little and have all season. Ofa played well as did Clarke and Papalii.
For the Clan, the usual suspects Frizell (must be the no.1 starter for the ABs at this stage), Smith, etc play well but I reckon the biggest bow needs to be given to Tony Brown. In every game, you see his influence in attack.

Please play like that every week Mitch. No more clangers.

Loosies were the difference, Highlanders trio were huge, Paps was on his own.

And a big thank you to the blues fan that made that blues/crusaders call a few weeks ago, it's been a fun comp since eh?

I’m fairly sure I said that after they beat the landers last time.

What a great performance by the Highlanders. The Blues are back to the drawing board. Pretty shit really when you look at the squad.

But they do have nice and pretty hair. That obviously counts for something in that team

Really has thrown this comp wide open for second place. Every chance Blues lose next week to Crusaders (I think that’s who they play and it’s down south) then it’s a three man shoot out for second.

There are not a lot of world class players in nz at the moment. Who makes a world XV? Aaron smith would be in the mix.

So 2 players have really caught my eye as potential future stars. The sadly injured Fokatava. And that young prop De Groot. That guy looks the business. At 22 he will only get better.

Wow!

I have no issues with forward physical play. They make metres and dominate. Just have to pick when to use it.

Blues should run away with it if (a) they keep the ball, and (b) stop having brain explosions. NOt convinced either's going to happen

A Smith was the difference. inredible player, arguably player of the SRA comp. Simply incredible.

                                      But,FML

I almost felt for Papali'i last night he was trying, but I didn't think he had any support from other 2 loosies in Blues, and so Harmon, who played well, looked a lot better. Clan are going to have to come up with a plan to give Smith a break, now with Fakatava gone, there maybe a gap between Smith and hammington, and Smith is so important to them.
