Decided to walk backwards up the local hill while taking the dog for a walk. Haven't had a burn in the VMO like that for a long time.

ATG bodyweight squats only present mild discomfort rather than debilitating sharp pain, so that's good progress.

@antipodean yeah I see a few guys at the gym do this on the treadmill and another guy does it often on the bike...keep thinking I should try it!

On my list for when I'm allowed back at the gym!

isn't there a joke about a dog walking backwards?

But slightly more seriously, I am not surprised the backwards hill was a burner!

961 days and two injuries later combined with covid; sitting at 94kg and a waist that is now a legal standard measure. Investment in a home gym and a preference for a programme that addresses tendinopathy has lead me to knees over toes guy. Here's Joe talking about him:

So having always struggled with flexibility I thought it was time to address that given "lengthening is strengthening".

I do a bit of knees over toe type stuff. Definitely a fan of it. I can do what he does 32 seconds into the vid. I think it’s VERY important for blokes particularly people like me who spend a lot of time sitting in a car.

Joe is good but he talks shit, I’m a massive Deontay Wilder fan but Joe said no one in boxing has ever punched harder. Bullshit.

He did look confused. Probably embarrassed too. "My owner is now too dumb to walk properly".

Yeah, the only real surprise was how quickly the burn set in.

@JK - he rates him, but was talking more about the monkeyfoot device.

Decided to check muscle imbalance by doing sissy squats (easy) and nordic curls (hard). This is unsurprising to me given how inflexible my hamstrings have always been, but the difference was stark. So I've decided to concentrate two days per week on increasing mobility and strengthening through the ankles, knees and hips.

I agree. I've never been able to touch my toes with locked knees up until my trainer started me doing exercises that helped this. I keep touching my toes now for the novelty factor! Hip flexibility has improved my golf driving power untold as well.

My new squat rack from Rogue finally turned up, just shy of eight weeks after ordering it! Solid bit of kit, almost worth the weight.

                                  A neat 200 days later.

Shoulder injury makes squatting an issue so I've moved to deadlifts. Grip isn't strong enough to trouble the posterior chain so bought wraps. Should've got these decades ago.

Bench is still good, focusing on "the connection".

Bought a curl bar. Gotta get the arms ready for summer!

Got a new Concept2 rower. It's been a while since I seriously used one of these. My brother and I used to race each other at the gym over a set distance and you'd near kill yourself trying to win. I'd average 1:34-7 per 500m for 2km and let me tell you I'm a long way off that right now, but the motivation and enjoyment in using it is sky high. Great way to get fit.

@antipodean That is (well was) a seriously good time over 2K. Something to aim at - good luck. If you're tall it helps - long levers make a difference.
