I don't think he did, I think it was just the motion of the tackle.
That's the point I guess: how much do you expect the tackler to stop once he realises it's past horizontal?

I'm happy it's not a red because I hate red cards, but I've seen that tackle given a red more often than not
That was a nice slick try. If you can get repeated quick ball the Boks get pulled apart

Can't help but feel all these scrum resets, I juries etc are strategic whilst player in the bin. Guess it's just smart but it is annoying.
