Thanks to sustained pressure from all the Cooper bandwagoners at the Silver Fern, it looks like Quade is that much closer to Aussie citizenship.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/sport/rugby/international/300406242/hes-an-australian-hero-quade-cooper-set-to-be-awarded-citizenship-after-long-battle

Cooper, who was born in New Zealand before moving to Australia at age 13, has had four requests to become an Australian citizen denied. Cooper’s latest application was rejected because he provided β€œno evidence” that he had β€œengaged in activities of benefit to Australia”.

if that isn't a searing indictment on the value of the Wallabies and rugby in general to Australia, I don't know what is...

I question the whole issue about his citizenship. I stand corrected, but I'm sure he would have gotten it easily if he'd actually bothered to apply before he headed off to play overseas. I'm assuming that broke up his residency period and he had to start from scratch after that?

@nostrildamus Think you just shake your head, if kicking a goal to win a rugby test is now the standard for citizenship, and to even say someone kicking a goal is a 'hero' , must make some army , police , firemen fellas wonder what the word hero means!

Media making up a story. Shocking.

It came out after the initial bullshit died down that every time Cooper had applied he had fucked up either his days per year as resident or his consecutive days as resident. Those are key markers to decide an application and show a commitment.
He needs to simply get an immigration consultant to mark his calendar so he doesn't fuck up again. If he had applied years ago when his main Oz rugby career was ongoing he probably wouldn't have had a problem but he waited until he was doing stints playing and working overseas.

And Robbie Kempson wants a penalty for the Boks' scrum imploding in the dying moments.

@nta maybe the Bok loose head should scrum better and then the ref will see the supposed illegal scrumming. I mean how the hell do you want a penalty for being ministered in the scrum. I mean it's been a open secret that being dominant gives you the advantage. Gees but they're the most powerful scrumming side in the world πŸ˜‚

@rebound Was more the second row - and flankers - than the prop. Feel a bit sorry for N'Che tho he could stand to lose a few kegs TBH.

I just noticed that Cooper did away with his silly kicking stance he used to do in years prior, where his arms were positioned weirdly. Nice.

I don’t recall seeing him do that whilst he was playing in Japan, so it may have been ditched a while back.

hang on did an ex-prop suggest a current prop "lose a few kegs"?

I watched him when he came on and just thought there is a line between "heavy" and "cuddly" and he was threatening it. Watching him around the park, there's no doubt he has power but at the same time when he's following play he leaves some big gaps.

When you compare him to Koch, it is surprising that Ox is the looshead and Koch the TH.
