Talking to some Cantabs after the game about the lineout lifting. Seemed odd to see such a difference tonite. Well done Norris and Dyer.

    Dyer.

Been good this season. Was with Blues earlier this year. Anyone know if he has a contract?

I know a few cantab fans that think R Thorne is a hopeless coach

They aren't shit they've just dipped back into the middle of the first division pack.

As for blaming Thorne? Plenty of Cantab ferners have been doing that too. The problem is the season before he took over wasn't great either (6 wins 5 losses)

Since Canterbury lost to Auckland in the 2018 final they've gone 15 wins and 16 losses

The rise of Ta$man to being the premiere team in the Crusaders region is the main reason IMO. Although I'm happy to throw shit at Rueben Thorne too

      No Thorne is shit.
As soon as Razor went to the Crusaders the coaching selection has been poor,From Maddocks forward.

The CRFU have lost the plot over the last 3 years.

I agree. However that doesn't explain the decline starting the year before he took over.

The talent on the roster has fallen back to the pack. Coincidentally Ta$man built the strongest roster over the same period

Question is if Roe and Dickinson are now both injured, who's Waikato's 4th choice halfback?

It depends on who is in camp. Ben Strang might be, as he played for Waikato in the pre-season but was injured in the Chiefs U20 game. Tell Ta$man to fly Noah Hotham up. 😉

And @Hooroo and any other Waikato fans outside of L3 should get along next Sat night.

some of the problem was Joe Maddocks the coach before Thorne his selections were poor and a few players who went to school in canterbury left to get a chance elsewhere.Diluting the depth.

@duluth we just aren’t that good. Surprised we even made the semis this year. Some goodish players but we lack chemistry and a bit of class too.

Lots to work on and hopefully we see a bit more development.

Will be a lot of Ab's missing if thats the case
Crusaders have 11 on the tour I presume Scott Barrett would be available having missed the NH Tour.
                Blues have 9
Chiefs have 10 not counting DMac who will be in Japan
                Canes have 6
                Highlanders with Smith have 3

Doesn't Mo'unga's long absence from SR at the beginning from SR Pacific have to do with him still be owed parental leave? He has hardly had any, unlike Whitelock. Smith in the same boat as RM.

He had 6 weeks off played on August 14th 2nd Wallabies test and returned 27 th September. To Australia for the 2nd SA test.
I doubt RM would want that long away from playing.
Finishing 21st November and not playing again until the middle of April.

@chris If all ABs are absent for so long, then that will be ruining SRP again.

I agree. Some goodish players and some potential. But the squad is nothing special.. I think a few people haven’t noticed the change in quality (particularly the Sky commentators)

                                Not a bad side though

A losing SF isn’t a bad outcome given the resources

the quality of rugby analysis and insight in the commentating teams is woeful.
