Someone needs to explain to Josh Ioane that if his touch finders can end up in the stands he can direct them down field for more distance.
They’d still be over the hoardings but 15 metres further on.
The balance on the bench was wrong for the Chiefs and they paid the price. Blues knew exactly where to attack.

Has this been mentioned elsewhere? Couldn't find it.

Looks like Blues need a new 12 already.

@billy-tell Early days for All Blacks preparing for a long season.

We do need new locks though.

Honestly, I can't see either of them doing shit in 2023. Retallick is a shadow of the player he used to be. It would be good to drop him and Whitelock this year and just get it over with. Retallick made one good strip, but otherwise looked no better or behind Romano and Goodhue.

was that the one off Romano that lead to Webbers first try? I thought that could have been penalised as Romano was 'tackled'

Blues still need to work on decision making when the heat is on though, several poor decisions in that final quarter almost handed the game away.

Tiaitia is a player you bring off the bench when you are chasing a game and need a spark. Canes fans should remember that when he played for the Chiefs at the Caketin and ignited that comeback win.

            I think you're right.

I also think 12 is his best position now. That's where he's played his best rugby for BOP the last couple of years, but he's not going to get much game time there at the Chiefs.

The Blues rapid attack plan is supported by their forwards, but the skill level of their backs cannot keep up with it. So many opportunities wasted. I really hope they click, because it would be something new that would break the defensive patterns that dominate now open.

Maybe when Beauden Barrett is back to his best?

Otherwise, despite lacking their big ball carrying second row from last year being missing, they should probably go back to grinding teams down in the forwards and kicking for field position.

This is my vote for post of the year, 100% totally agree. This is what I was screaming at the TV, keep it tight and don't waste the ball to early with the backs.

Thought the exact thing too. Tackled player and defending player still playing the ball is a penalty all day.

@tim I Agree. It will never happen though but with 2 years to go at least one of them needs to be dropped to develop another lock.
