I thought that was lineball, risky giving the ref an opportunity to let the Reds into the Chiefs half, but it comes down to the Williams' lottery.
Certainly looked no different in real time to the one he penalised a few minutes before. Perhaps the camera angle doesn't adequately show what he sees?

Very average from the Chiefs but a W.
I thought that Jacobson was huge, closely followed by Vaa'i. Ta'avao's best game in a while.
Ross' hands let him down but he scrummed well.
Gatland and Tiatia tried to out-do each other for the worst kicking. I'll call it a draw.

The replacement half was an idiot.
Gave away the stupidest PK for offside at a scrum I've ever seen when Chiefs were pressuring the Reds on the try line.

Agree. I kept wanting someone to thump him, but he's a damn fine rugby player.
Also, when Ratima shoved him out of the way at the scrum he seemed to take it with good humour.

I need to read this match thread, but has anything been said about how Gatland got his blackeye? We never saw any footage so was it similar to Evans against the Canes?
Cronan was very selective in what he wanted to bring to Williams' attention. The high tackle on Tupaea near the tryline before HT was an obvious example of something being ignored. That could have been a PT.
