I was wondering if Brial was the son of and it appears he is. Seems a side unit. What is his story? Why is he over here? Links to NZ or just came over here to get a rugby education?
I found this online from last year.
Super Rugby champions, the Crusaders, wouldn’t have signed Brial from NSW Waratahs had there been any doubt about his ability to go right to the top. Big things are expected of the son of Wallaby back-rower Michael Brial, who has been touted in some quarters as ‘the next Kieran Read’. Brial played for Australian Schoolboys as a 17-year-old in 2019, but is set to play for New Zealand U20s this year after moving to New Zealand to study at Lincoln University
Wouldn't he have to be eligible for NZ, e.g. be a NZ citizen of have a parent/grandparent, to be able to play for NZ U20?

As I understand it Brial is available for NZ U/20 selection that is why he is playing in this tournament for the Crusaders.
Just an add on the Family Michael Brial etc have been living in Queenstown since Joe was 9.So as I understand it the whole family has moved permanently to NZ.Even though Joe went back to Australia for secondary school.
