@Nepia Not having Ash Dixon is not helping either. Him being there last week would have see the Shield retained, absloutely no questions about that. By the way two losses to our guys at Park Island today, details to follow

You are full of it @Higgins. Dixon wouldn’t have changed shit last week. Wellington looked by far the better team and thoroughly deserved the win. Hawkes Bay never even looked like scoring a try against our boys.

I think you are a little bit deluded about how good Hawkes Bay actually are. They’ve been beyond average in this game again today.

Poorly coached me thinks and certain players don’t seem to be stepping up despite how good they apparently are.

Don't get deluded. Wellington only managed to win by one try that they were only able to score because we had a man in the bin. We ran out of time at the end, but with a few minutes more, we could have scored as we had the momentum at the end of the game. The difference in that game was clearly the decision-making and leadership. Ash Dixon would have made a hell of difference in that respect.

@Stargazer lol how am I being deluded. @Higgins literally said having Dixon in the squad would have guaranteed an HB win last week even though they never looked like scoring a try.

Saying Dixon would have made a difference is like saying Ardie Savea or Dane Coles would have made a difference to Wellington aswell, it’s completely irrelevant.

Is Dixon even in the Magpies squad?

@Canes4life With Dixon in the squad, the decision-making and leadership in the Magpies squad would have been much, much better and, yes, I think we would have won, if he had played, because that's how good he is. But obviously, it's all theoretical, because he's not in Hawke's Bay anymore. That doesn't make @Higgins statement incorrect.

@Stargazer lol then this discussion is pretty pointless then. And yes it does make it incorrect because having Dixon in the squad still wouldn’t guarantee a Hawkes Bay win.

It's a home game. Was supposed to be a Shield challenge to try stop @Chris-B from complaining.

@Nepia Yeah - give us the final challenge of the season!

          Fake as!!! 🙂

The only thing NZ Rugby overlooked was we would have had all our All Blacks available and player power (The Jerry Collins clause) would have forced Fozzie to release them.

(We're playing, Fozzie - watcha gonna do about it - drop half your team and risk the sack! 🙂 )

Fuck off all you salty whinging clowns

Wellington fans go to your shield thread and prepare to lose it

There is enough salt here from HB fans to sort my pool out.

            Great and just result.

Be pretty hard to make the top four in our pool now I think. Ta$man in good form in the Auckland and Northland game. Otago got a couple easier games still to play. BOP deserved that game. Frustrating.

Otago plays Canterbury next weekend, not sure how that is an easier game

Very stressful end to the game. Thought we were second best in the first half and kept on turning over the ball. Second half, the roles were reversed and we dominated. Line-out dominance was critical overall but otherwise a pretty tight game which wouldn't have been so tight if Trask could have made just one of those many kicks, including one from in front. Good win for THE BAY

@KiwiPie Well the battle of the Bays has been and gone. And I have to say the better team won, and deserved the win at that. For Hawkes Bay it's placed them in a tricky situation. They simply HAVE to return to Napier and beat Ta$man with a bonus point. Ranfurly Shield hangover? No. The battle of the Bays is motivation enough. Now it's going to be interesting to see how many All Blacks are released to play. Fakatava, and Frizzell are near certainties I would imagine. Ta$man looked good against Northland. For Hawkes Bay it's do or die. Throw the shackles off, and play what your capable of. Either way, should be a ripper of a game.
