    France win. Good game that.

Awesome Aussie performance even if not quite enough to win it.

ABs would've been ranked second if Oz had pipped them

Thoroughly enjoyed that match. Hard luck Wallabies.

Next years WC is going to be super intriguing.

@Canes4life agree , you have got to feel for Rennie over the last couple of seasons so many players either injured or unavailable it’s been difficult putting a consistent XV on the playing field ..and yet there are times even despite the lack of depth they are more than capable of competing with the best sides
Possibly the best team running around with the worst record.

A few blunders cost the Wallabies dearly (Foley's pass to nobody for the French first try, Valetini's left foot kick, Hodge's misfiring kick off to name a few, plus the missed tackles on Penaud). But I reckon they will be a force next for the RWC if they can have Beale, Kerevi, Koroibete, Alaalatoa, Sio, Philipp, Rodda, Bell and Leota who were not there today.

    French panicking a bit.

    Great to see Hooper back.

Thought he was a bit quiet. Still feeling his way into it.

Holloway is the player who has really stood up this year with his physicality . Fainga'a has a habit of missing key lineout throws.

The try on HT was the real killer blow.

Valetini had a poor game - the ruck just before halftime created the pressure for White and then Foley to gift France a try. The kick. The lack of carries and penetration. He was caught flat footed a few times but just seemed to be absent in the top two inches.

Frost also dropped a kick off cold, which I notice he did against Scotland. Otherwise, for a 23yo kid with those physical stats, he's a keeper. Our locking stocks will be good for next year, pending injury.

We lost four lineouts by my count (picked off twice and 2 not straight) which also didn't help.

But I reckon they will be a force next for the RWC if they can have Beale, Kerevi, Koroibete, Alaalatoa, Sio, Philipp, Rodda, Bell and Leota who were not there today.

I don't know about "a force" but we'll hopefully be staunch enough to get out of our group. Semifinals would be over achieving given our inconsistency. The way we're travelling right now there are no guarantees that will improve things πŸ˜‰

Definitely adding Kerevi and Koroibete makes us more of a threat. Ditch Wright for the latter - for every good thing he does, there is something unutterably stupid in his game.

Most of a forward pack of good talent missing in what you've named, tho the guys who are there right now are doing a good job. We put the French scrum under serious pressure, and they're no mugs.

The asterisk on this game: France's first time out this season. They'll be much better next week so this was our chance. Not to be - c'est la vie πŸ™‚

With Frost, Valetini, Tupou, Holloway and Skelton the Wallabies pack has plenty of size and with Laurie Fisher putting together a good maul defence it puts the Wallabies right in the contest.

That try concede on halftime is a coach killer.

Yeah, but I look at the sliding doors and think "whatever".

It is just as likely we lose by a point as France go on a second half rampage if they head to the sheds 13-12 down πŸ€·β™‚

@KiwiMurph still think they are dark horse at next years 2023 RWC , if they can get their best 23 assembled they will be a threat
Samu Kerevi and Marika Koroibete back in starting XV makes them an even more dangerous beast

@ACT-Crusader and so many times we will find a way to fuck up that sort of play. Wright doesn't pass, or passes too early/late, being the first two options I can think of.

Back to this - here is a potential Wallabies team with another year of pro footy under its belt:

    1 Bell
    2 Porecki
    3 Alaalatoa (c)
    4 Frost
    5 Philip
    6 Holloway
    7 Hooper
    8 Valetini
    9 White
    10 Cooper
    11 Koroibete
    12 Kerevi
    13 Ikitau
    14 Kellaway
15 Campbell (yes I think he's good enough)

    16 Fainga'a / Lonergan / Pollard
    17 Slipper / Sio
    18 Tupou
    19 Skelton / Neville
    20 Samu
    21 Gordon / McDermott
    22 Lolesio / Donaldson / Edmed
    23 Nawaqanitawase / Hodge / a host of others

So we're mostly there in terms of forming up a squad IMHO. And playing at potential could be a very good side, with a few of those disciplinary edges sanded off.

So much for an Aussie team ferners think NZ should thrash every time. But for a couple of bits of poor execution from Jock Campbell they could have beaten France. That last ruck cleanout was abysmal and gifted it to Danty.
Just shows how close the top teams are these days.
Penaud is a classy runner but should have been cleaned up before that try.

@ARHS if Peyper went the other way there, Hodge to drop a monster from halfway? πŸ˜‰
