I just hope that he gets the chance to play at the next level, that he doesn't end up like that fucking SA midget from a few years ago who looked good at Super level but was poor at Test level.

I owe 2 players apologies after dissing them a couple of weeks back. Ngātai & A Savea. I was wrong.

But McKenzie: my favourite player currently an excellent 15/10 playmaker almost in the mould of a league playmaker. AB for sure.

D - Mac looks like a ready made AB, he looked quite big in that game. With NMS out. You can move Smith to 14 and start him at 15.

There'd be no need to move Smith, just throw McKenzie on the wing.

D Mac looked a class above out there from what I saw of the match. Deserves a shot at higher honours if his form continues.

Excellent game of the Chiefs backrow. Cane was everywhere when it counted, Sanders drove hard and Leitch was great at the breakdown.

I am not too convinced by Weber. He is too eager and this makes him take the wrong option sometimes. His defensive channel with Cruden was also cruelly tested twice by Masirewa. TKB clearly better than him in this aspect.

Good news is that Moli looked very comfortable when he came him. He was dominant in the scrum.

Allardice is also improving very quickly this year.

A good example was in the 2nd half when Weber butchered a certain try by ignoring a huge overlap to his right and running himself close to the ruck and losing the ball in the tackle. Weber's other problem is that his passing can be very inaccurate (passes can be too high or too low).

I was at the game so a few other comments:

Ngatai - nuff said.

Tamanivalu was really poor defensively. He has a tendency to rush out of the line and miss spot tackles.

I really like this Chiefs loose forward trio - they complement eachother well.

Seu impresses more every week.

The Chiefs got good impact from the inexperienced bench. A surprise to me.

BUT the highlight of the night was when Beaver took the field. Everyone in my area rose to their feet to applaud. :)
