There were two "shockers" by the ref tonight. ALB should have gotten a red, which would have had a major impact on the game, and a missed forward pass several phases before a try was scored, which would have had a marginal impact on the match at the time.

All of the rest were pretty normal ruby calls, nothing to call the WAHHHHHHHHAMBULANCE about.

Unless I am mistaken the forward pass was in a different passage of play to the try. The Chiefs had the ball back in between the forward pass and the try.

If Chiefs have scrum on halfway at 36 Saders don’t score try.

    Then at 56 it’s 20-8 to Chiefs.

So not much turned on it.

Very excited to see if/how ABs improve next year (with the new coach) given this win was with such a depleted/novice side.
Still think Scott Barrett is a great lock so should play there.

I actually agree with this. The problem is the nonchalant use of “normal rugby calls”. When they go your way, it’s easy to sit smug. When they don’t, it’s easy to melt down.

And that’s basically what rugby is now. Hoping the ref is good to your team.

Are the current Crusaders the greatest dynasty in professional sport?

7 titles in a row is an extraordinary accomplishment. Has any other pro team achieved that in any sport?

OK, I'll put it another way, the Chiefs got SHITLOADS wrong right in front of the refs, and that's not how you win.

I think on form ENS could have been an AB bolter. I'd have him over Clarke. I thought he was excellent as he has been all season. Pleased that he made the AB XV.

His game has improved leaps and bounds in the past couple of years.

                    @Canerbry again, I agree.

But there were clear calls the other way not given which could have changed the game too. Not sure there is arguments Crusaders were that dominant for a 14-7 penalty or 3-0 card count.

For all those going on about jownthe Chiefs were hard done by, the first try to the Chiefs came from a stop off Will Jordan after the tackle had been completed. Should have been a PK to Crusaders for no release.

It gets a bit silly at some point to keep worrying about these calls and what ifs. Every decision is a sliding doors moment, not just the ones that go incorrectly against your side.

Very flat. I was expecting us to win if it was an arm wrestle, otherwise I expected a Crusaders win to be much less close on the scoreboard.

A bloody good fight, and overseen by two decent blokes as coaches trying to get one over on the other.

As much as I wasn't wanting to see a breakdancing opportunity tonight, it's clear from it each year just how much the Crusaders players love their coach.

But those penalties & cards were for individual incidents not for dominance or whatever.

I'd suggest the Chiefs lack of discipline is why a better team on paper lost tonight.

while i agree with that the forward pass wasnt even flat it was a long pass forward by 3 to 4 meters it shouldnt be a subjective call it was so far forward

The long forward pass was right in front of me. Gardner seemed asleep. The TMO needs to do their job and not just pick and choose when to intervene.

Gutted for Weber, Nankivell and PGS especially.

also sick of players taking another player out way passed the ball and then just rejoin ruck at the front. well infront of the ball

That was probably the best final to watch since 2015 Hurricanes vs Highlanders.

In the end there were some excellent playoff games - 2 quarter finals, 1 semi final and a final.

also i think we over complcated the line out. even the try we didnt score was high risk. gave them a penilty on halfway.

They're up there for sure. Liverpool and the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 70s/80s, Rabbitohs in the 50s/60s, Man U in the 90s, Celtic in the 2010s, Canterbury in the 2010s all pretty impressive records. Probably a bunch more football teams in other leagues.
