Hooper has impressed me in the post match (the way he has handled himself since been dropped actually).

He's a loyal team man, just unfathomable how he was considered surplus to requirements - sure his form wasn't stellar.. but the man oozes leadership

I thought he was injured? Calf strain if I remember?

He was injured but would have been fit during the tournament. Same as Jorgensen who made the squad.

Good to see some direct questions around the Japan thing - the bloke who asked him if he has a 2nd interview lined up won't be on Eddie's Xmas card list

Poor Dave sitting there through that - just one question directed at him, and it was about Eddie!

Don't think the ARU can afford to sack him (and all his assistants). Either he stays, or they come to some "leaving by mutual agreement" arrangement with a greatly reduced payout.

But who would want him now?

There are a shit tonne of things the ARU can't afford to do which they've done anyway. Eddie holds all the cards right now. What brilliant minds they have working there.

I don't think Eddie holds many cards at all. They are all equally rooted. There won't be any protests if he gets sacked, or walks.

That was a disappointing watch. One of the worst performances I've ever seen from them, and that's not good for rugby in this part of the world.

We need to help them get strong again. Less teams for them and a better comp structure in Super rugby.

With afl finals in Melbourne, nrl in Sydney, no one appears to give a fuck here . That’s the biggest concern , the wallabies could die completely and no one seems to care , its a bigger story in Nz .

He holds them all. He either stays on and continues to get paid for shitty results (any other coach would be gone already), gets fired with pay, or leaves and picks up his Japan gig. He's fine. It's Aus rugby that's completely fŭcked.

i found it telling that even hard core rugby supporters were so resigned to losing today, and said it with a shrug of their shoulders.

I very doubtful that Japan will want him, after the leak etc I not sure they will be wanting to be associated with the whole mess.

That should be first thing, but as their esteemed chairman has saidm Australia will have 5 teams as long as he is there! As Hoiles pointed out having 5 teams means all teams are paying for overseas players that can't play for Wallabies.

Hopefully this is the catalyst for them to become professional in their organisation. At the moment it's starting to feel like the bad old days when NZRU helped fund them with touring. It's why we have an annual Bledisloe fixture.

They need a competitive, attractive competition. They need better alignment from club - school - club competitions. They need a broader base at the amateur level which drives participation and interest. But it feels like too many bad faith actors. All of this has been said before but the genuine difficulty is the ease with which a half decent player can go overseas and earn coin.

I was at a pretty packed gym and nobody gave a fůck. People checked out on the Wallabies a long time ago.

Yup, nobody cares. I'm on my way into work, and I know I'm going to have a lot of chats about rugby today. They will be with my English, Irish, Welsh, Saffa and Kiwi colleagues. Most of the born and raised Aussies will not even be aware of the result, or if they are they won't really care. It's got about the same level of interest as the netball world cup right now.
