I think the only reasonable conclusion from this game is that the Highlanders are back, and they WILL win Super Rugby.

    This is our year baby!!!!

Some luck with injuries and they could surprise this year

@Winger why is he a long way off? He showed a year ago that he was capable of running the cutter in that pre season game against the Saders. Hawkes Bay need to start playing him at 10 over McClutchie. Clearly no one wants the latter and IMO Godfrey has a way higher ceiling.

The Canes either need to ply Love at 10 or Godfrey. We need 10s that have the capability of setting our backline alight. If we keep Morgan and Cameron in that position we will be winning F all. Hopefully Laidlaw figures this out early in his tenure.

Love looks like a All black FB in the making I hope he is not moved to First Five.
Cameron has always looked just a class down from a top First Five even when he was with the Crusaders he couldn't quite step up and he looks the same to me.
Godfrey I think is the one you throw in to 10 and let him grow way more up side than Cameron or Morgan.

@Chris yeah I'd leave Love at FB aswell. For me our best and most exciting backline is:

        1. Roigard
        2. Godfrey
        3. Naholo
        4. Barrett
        5. Proctor
        6. Moorby
        7. Love (who can cover 10)

Then a bench of Perenara, Higgins and Sullivan for impact.

@Chris the problem with previous Canes coaches like Holland is that they never select our best. Hopefully Laidlaw comes to the party.

How many games has Godfrey started at first in either super or NPC rugby.

@Winger Don't think any as yet, maybe a couple at NPC, but don't recall them.

You don't have to throw Godfrey in at 10 straight away but there's definitely opportunities to work his way in there across the season

The cream will generally rise. If the coaches think Godfrey is the man, they will pick him because it is a results-based business.

If he was better than McClutchie we'd have played him there, we're a merit based organisation unlike others. ๐ŸŽฃ

@Nepia well he must be better, he got a Super contract so that says a lot. ๐Ÿ˜ Tbh though I thought McClutchie hd a good year and was deserving of a spot somewhere. Defs prefer him over the hopeless Morgan.

If Godfrey is serious about playing 10 going forward though he needs minutes there at NPC.

@KiwiMurph the fact he can cover 10/15 will be a big plus for him atleast having plenty of mins off the bench.
