Well, the Warriors could reschedule if they're worried about their audience being affected. It's not up to NZ Rugby to cater to them.

Somehow I don't think it's the Warriors that are going to be hugely affected by the clash...

Considering the number of posts here about the entire season, I can't see it makes much of a difference where they play.

I’ve been following the season. I really like the speed of play but this year there has certainly been a big uptick in defensive steel - not surprising given the increased pre-season and preparation time. Even the blowouts have been hugely entertaining. It’s great rugby. They play rugby the NZ way. England have the wood on them at the moment but I would never ever want NZ to play like England with their endless mauls and ref-enabled cheating at the ruck.

Big hoohah on Twitter over the scheduling of the match - which conflicts with the Warriors across town and club rugby matches. Sunday would’ve been better

@Auckman Kinda struggling to see the crossover from Wah's fans to womans rugby, would seem to be like someone complaining that Taylor Swift and Metallica are playing at the same time.

But I guess fabricated hoo-haa is all the rage these days, especially if you can appear morally virteous while doing it.

I agree. I doubt the Warriors fan base give a toss about women’s rugby so it’s a good point. They wouldn’t even care about their women’s NRLW

                https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/rugby/super-rugby-aupiki-blues-boss-andrew-hore-explains-scheduling-of-final-against-chiefs-manawa/3MEZKYANS5DX3MQWWQ35OO7RWI/

“The final time and date are set by the national body and the broadcaster at the very beginning or when the schedule’s set out and that’s often in advance of the NRL.” Hore said. “We can’t really change things based on what other codes are doing.”

the next thing you probably would’ve said is, ‘Why are our athletes not playing at Eden Park for a final?’

“There’s an element here too that Eden Park is where our athletes wanted to play. They said the end of their season - to be able to play at Eden Park - was important to them

The final, which will be flipped to a vertical format to be broadcast on the social media platform, is part of New Zealand Rugby’s effort to be “fan-centric”.

Just how many people did the NZH think would turn up to watch? I hardly think they're missing many from the Warriors or netball anyway.

@antipodean I think the NZH live is bizarre fantasy land under the belief that in Auckland an Eden Park sized number of people peruse their weekend newspaper selecting which sporting event they absolutely will attend regardless of who's playing or what sport it is.

As opposed to the possible reality that, you know, sports enthusiasts don't attend every single sporting event no matter what it is, and maybe have only a few sports they are interested in and follow. And out of those they're interested in maybe only one or two they would shell out their hard-earned cash to attend as a special event or to purchase a season pass for.

You know like a normal person.

Not sure how match-fit Tubic is though. She’s been out since the last final

Yeah you’re right. She came on in the 51st minute. Didn’t have much impact due in part to the really poor service from both AMT and then Baylor when she came on. Then McGoverne ran right through her to score the winning try due to a spectacular breakdown in communication between the newbie winger Reese Anderson who cleared from the back but never ran up to put her team mates onside. Everyone in front of her, including Tubic, couldn’t tackle as they were offside.

Blues should target AMT and Baylor. Their passing game has gone to rubbish in recent weeks.

Blues team for the big game.

Fisher has fallen out of favour or injured and has missed out the match day 23 entirely. Itunu rewarded for her strong performances over recent weeks.

Puckett returns to starting halfback but it must’ve been a close call with Kahlia Awa performing exceptionally well in the past fortnight. Her Hawkes Bay first-five Cottrell will be key to the Blues go-forward as she has been all season.

The rest of the team names itself. They remain underdogs despite their recent success. The Chiefsaders are big game players and will want to right the wrongs of last year’s final.

Game day! I feel the blues have ridden their horse as far as their abilities have allowed this far. It’s been a great season. However, we may be in for a good old fashioned Waikato ambush at Eden Park today. Let’s hope not!
