The Blues will have done the Canes no favours here. I should imagine the Brumbies will have concentrated during the week on winning collisions and being more accurate with their chances.

holy shit! Secret sauce ... like throw straight to the lineout and stop dropping the ball (looking at you Crusaders)

obviously a tongue in cheek post. But yeah, expect the Brumbies to be up for it. Should be good fun - a real test of where the two sides are at

The Brumbies have been a bit of a bogey team for the Canes in recent years

        Screenshot 2024-04-24 at 2.02.28 PM.png

        Canes v Brumbies in Canberra

Brumbies have won 8 of the last 9 in Canberra. The Canes win coming back in 2017

At all locations the Brumbies have won 4 of the last 5.

It was 1-1 last year but of course the Brumbies won the QF

        @Duluth

Interesting but the Canes had shit coaches in recent year. Hopefully it will be different this game

          Yes, the less verbose version.

            Starting side will likely be

            Xavier Numia
            James O’Reilly
            Tyrel Lomax
            Caleb Delany
            Isaia Walker-Leawere
            Brad Shields (Captain)
            Peter Lakai
            Brayden Iose if available
            TJ Perenara
            Brett Cameron
            Kini Naholo
            Jordie Barrett
            Billy Proctor
            Josh Moorby
            Ruben Love

In the reserves I would like to see Higgins and Godfrey get game time
Flanders unless he starts at 8 or a 5-2 split will likely miss out

Ever since 97 playing the Brumbies in Canberra has been painful memories for me.

Hopefully we can get over it on Sat.

Ironic when we won our title they absolutely flogged us in round 1.

                    A few surprising selections

-Kirifi and not Lakai. But Kirifi has been in VG form so understandable
-Rayasi and not Moorby. Weird selection. As I don't rate Rayasi and Moorby has been in great form on the wing (hes not a FB though)
-PUJ. But at least its not at 2nd 5. I will be keen to see how he goes at center but he needs to sometimes pass the ball not always try and crash through. It might be the last chance for him
-Good to see Grant in the reserves

Strange to see both Higgins and Sullivan in the reserves

@Winger Billy Proctor has had huge mins, good chance to rest him in this game, same with Josh Moorby and Peter Lakai, even though the latter is on the bench. I'd say more guys will take a seat next week but they are probably ensuring there is enough quality on the park for this game and next week's game to get the job done.

The Brumbies will be massively boosted by the return of Alaalatoa and Ikitau. I expect them to be hugely improved compared to last week. If the Canes win this week and next, they've almost guaranteed a top 2 position. Then that game against the Blues will likely determine who finishes in top spot.

Update: Proctor has bursitis in his knee so is being rested this week.

Also, the Canes sent an SOS to Dane Coles but unfortunately he won't be playing for the Canes this year after also suffering an injury playing for his Japanese club.

OK so the team needs another hooker.

Vernon Bason was the Hunters replacement hooker (Maybe too young though)

Update: Proctor has bursitis in his knee so is being rested this week.

Also, the Canes sent an SOS to Dane Coles but unfortunately he won't be playing for the Canes this year after also suffering an injury playing for his Japanese club.

OK so the team needs another hooker.

Vernon Bason was the Hunters replacement hooker (Maybe too young though)

@Winger I wonder if they will pull Bason from the NZ Under 20s setup. They might have to now that Devery and Aumua are injured.

Who would be the other hookers in contention?

Nice sunny day in Canberra. Makes a nice change from night games in ACT.
