Havent seen the game but would I be right to say the return of Barrett shows his value as a player and the addition of a really good lock has transformed both a struggling lineout and scrum?

In the same way the two years ago the blues pack full of ABs got dismantled at set piece in the final due primarily to a weakness at lock. It proved that props scrummaging is significantly impacted by the quality of the push from behind.

      Random thoughts:

Why (the Rebels) would you start with such an inferior front row? I get the idea of an impact bench, but only if the starters can at least hold their own. Dumb.

Think the Saders took a long time to believe in themselves. Should have slammed the door shut 30 mins in. Think that's confidence, or lack thereof.

Sith looseforwards really impressive. Lio-Willie the best of them. But Grace burst out of his this season's previous uselessness.

Aumua looking more like you'd expect from him.

      Mabey makes a few mistakes.

Sevu Reece ... there's been mumbles about off field stuff, but he's playing brilliantly.

      Good crowd too.

Not out of it, the Sith.

Shite set piece for the Rebels, Crusaders have left a few points on the park

Good to see the Crusaders starting to get their act together a bit though.

Was Havilii a calming controlling head to the backline?
Hasnt played for a while so I can accept he was rusty but do you think he helps aumua?

Aumua played well from the start, i.e., before Havili was on.

The refereeing was a hell of a lot less Australian than the last couple of games.

Heard Devlin and his offsider suggesting he likely take up an offer to get out out of the Country.

                  Not sure why.

Is TJ Reece's manager/publicist? He's fluffing him for congratulating another player. 🙂

TJ was so excitable you can bet that the commentary box was steamy.

He did drop the T word in there too.

A return to form by the Crusaders or a dead-cat bounce?

@sparky They're good at home as conditions and a smaller field suits them and opposition struggle to adapt coming to Chch.

They should have enough to qualify for the 8, but their away form is a concern.

They really need to rethink thier Mid field, Aumua and McLeod ain't up to it.

They also still look like a team not entirely on the same page, so often mis timed passes or runners and affects the cohesion across the park, which will impact players confidence.

As above, Barrett will make a huge difference to the team going forward.

Still lots of issues but much better. Forwards were good, backs still have many things to iron out.
When I watch Blackadder, I see one of the most effective loose forwards in the comp. Whether the team is going well or not, he leaves nothing on the field. One of the first on the AB teamsheet for me.

@Old-Samurai-Jack the problem I see with Blackadder is where would you play him? He is not the best in any given position. Bench loosie at best for the ABs. And that's debatable.

@Old-Samurai-Jack I think teams are going for more the bigger 7 nowadays, so can see the point. (If I want us following other teams of course)

Blackadder is an absolute pest with a huge motor. I'd be happy with him or Papalii at 7.
It's bloody good that Dalton has some competition.

I could be wrong but I think he’s been playing plenty at 7 in Japan. I’m intrigued to see where Razor likes him.
