Not much to take from that.

I was glad that the Chiefs had done their homework on making sure that Ardie couldn't really get in the game. I don't think it would have helped as Dmac was directing traffic really well, but in the first 20 odd minutes I was really impressed with the accuracy of their carry and clean.

@gt12 I thought the chiefs tactics to vary it up completely in that first 20 including lots of varied kicking really put the MP defence in disarray. Took any MP hoorah confidence away completely and once that's gone they... well they're bad.

Well, that was a weird experience, I like MP so while I was enjoying the Chiefs I wasn't enjoying MP getting slaughtered like that.

@Nepia I was just saying the other day this Chiefs team reminds me of the 2009 blue Bulls team where they can punish the opposition in a big way, I would be surprised if they don't go all the way this year although Barrett, Blackadder and co often peak in June

Could be in for a heavy rotation next week and a potential week off for the big guns? Doesn’t make sense at all to have him on

McMillan has been good in rotating minutes for some key players (e.g., ST), and was able to sub the likes of Vaa'i and Sititi off early. There were still some backline casualties from this game, so we might be using some WTG players at least.

17,666 people at the Tron for this one.

A really good atmosphere, which the MP fans contribute greatly to.

Based on what I saw it from the physio it was either a chest or shoulder problem.

@Grooter More like the 2011 Reds imo with Quade Cooper and Wil Genia pulling the strings , The Reds scored some spectactular tries from all over the paddock very much like the chiefs are doing
Rod Davies was possibly the quickest wing in the comp along with Digby Ioane cutting capers
Lets also not forget they beat the Blues in the semi and a very good but well travelled Saders team in the final
    That team was stacked

Rod Davies now there's a name. Was never quite the same after Alesana Tuilagi sorted him out when Samoa beat the Wallabies that year before the World Cup.

Well that was some thrashing. Reminded me of a slightly lighter version of the Crusaders demolition of the Warratahs back in the day.
Good tactics. Largely good execution. Samisoni was very effective carrying in close, Tupaea gave midfield go-forward, and the forwards and Ratima kept the ball moving fast - then McKenzie getting the ball to space fast just absolutely destroyed MP. A pleasure to watch backs running and passing at pace and with freedom.

@sparky for me i dont see Carter in the All Black picture but i will conceed he maybe a chance given that Telea may not been selected because of his impending departure and with Tangitau out and possibly Narawa i guess anythings possible

I'm a Bay fan and a Carter fan but I doubt he will make the ABs. His main strength for being selected for the Chiefs was his ability to cover half-back so I didn't expect him to start so many games. Not sure he is big enough or fast enough for test rugby but he never lacks for commitment

Interesting comment on his speed, I would have thought he was easily quick enough based on his recent form.

I don't think that Carter's speed is an issue - he is quick. Decision-making going into contact is a work-on as he has been held up in the tackle a few times. If you want some chaos and unpredictability on attack, he is your man.

@KiwiPie Did he start life as a 9 or a wing? Has he gone to 9 in super? Seems to be a trend lately of 9/wings

He was a halfback thru U20s but morphed to wing through sevens. He is fast enough and strong enough. But he has some things to learn re ball protection.

    Is he a good halfback?
Having a starting wing able to cover halfback could make for some very interesting bench options.
