It's going to be a physical, brutal game in the forwards. When the Chiefs played MP at Pukekohe the forward pack was an A/B combination. I expect McMillan to roll out his best eight in this game. He might even opt for a 6/2 bench.

The team that plays from now should be the best available to get some cohesion before the playoffs.

I think having poured so much into last week, I'd expect a drop-off from Moana... but if they are in with a sniff heading into the last round, buckle-up.

That will be some game if Moana beat the Chiefs this week. I'd definitely be keen to head a long to that one. Ardie will be on an absolute tear against the Canes at the Tin if they are still in with a sniff.

If they win it will knock the Chiefs down to number 2 and set up a hell of a showdown between the Brumbies and Crusaders.

That's why this comp is so good this year, every week there has been games with huge ramifications for the comp.

If Moana lose this week, they will still be gunning for a win in Welly but will most likely need 5 points to make it through infront of the Blues and will need the Blues to fall apart against the Tahs.

So essentially in the last round you could have the following situations but that will depend on what happens this week:

              • Crusaders, Chiefs and Brumbies all playing for first place.
              • Reds and Canes vying for fourth position.
              • Moana and Blues vying for 6th position.

If I had to put money on the final top 6 standings I'd go with:

              1. Chiefs
              2. Brumbies
              3. Crusaders
              4. Hurricanes
              5. Reds
              6. Blues

That will mean Chiefs play Blues, Brumbies play Reds and Crusaders play Hurricanes in the Quarters, great for viewership due to the fact they are all local derbies. Highest loser goes through to the semis and I'm picking the Crusaders/Canes to be that team pending on the Quarter final result in Chch.

From there it's anyone's guess but I'm still picking the Chiefs to take it out.

The Hurricanes are far from home and hosed... they are just as likely to finish 7th as they are 4th... obviously you are a one-eyed fan, and I can't fault you for that, and that's how it should be, but what makes you think a side that would have lost to the bottom-placed Highlanders if Vikena could throw a lineout in straight, goes to Queensland and beats the Reds?

                  Because

                  1. We beat the Brumbies in Canberra which is a harder feat
                  2. We smoked the Chiefs at home
                  3. Half the Canes had Covid leading up to the Highlanders, plus early game injuries meant that we struggled more than we should have. But still won and probably should have put that game to bed a lot earlier and you can probably admit that if you take your eye patch off. 🙂
AND 4. The Reds without Uru, Wright, Wilson and potentially Lynagh are definitely beatable. But we won't know their team until Wednesday.

We also have a pretty decent record against the Reds over the years so of course I'm going to back the lads to go over and do the job. Would be a shit fan if I wasn't confident. In saying that, we could also finish 7th but based on recent form I'm confident we'll go in the other direction.

Anyway, without detracting from this thread, will leave it there.

McAlister and Taukei’aho swap places so this looks to be the top 23.

@Bovidae That Chiefs pack is genuinely big and scary & understandably the stuff of nightmares for everyone else going forward - I'd reckon by end of 2025 that entire starting pack will have featured heavily for ABs/AB XV's respective campaigns.

Probably the strongest bench I've seen in this competition for a long, long time. Really is a point of difference.

There are already 15K tickets sold, and hopefully a good walk-up crowd too.

Fuck off that's penalty only. PP's back was basically horizontal, Narawa dipped a lot and the other tackler changed the direction.

No arms, direct contact to head with force. Hopefully will be a red card this week.
