Canes outmuscled up front and battered out of the season. Didn't see that happening because I thought the pack had developed a bit of starch. Although Slipper won't be making any world 15 lists, he really is a warrior. Much respect.

Well, that game showed the value of Aumua and IWL I think. Lightweight tight 5 and small loosies isn't a recipe for success in Canboring. For all the great season Kirifi has had and the hype around Lakai, I thought Flanders was the pick of the Canes forwards.

And our season ends in Canberra once again. I’m not fucking surprised. Fucking shit hole of a place, burn it to the ground so we don’t play them there again. Fuck off Brumbies and your dickhead fans.
Taking it well then
When you get knocked out in Canberra 3 times out of the last four seasons it gets fucking tiring.
@Canes4life I still remember the first time it happened.

If I was making an argument for Kirifi in the ABs it would be as a specialist bench loosie to attack the breakdown.
Reckon their could be real value there and could be an option if you ran a 6-2 bench
I don't think the AB coaches have the balls to do something like that though

Was he carrying a bit of an injury last night - seemed to be off his usual intensity levels

I thought so too. Or was the Brumbies tight five too dominant?

The Brumbies played the same way they have for most of the season - their forwards hit the breakdown hard . I said a couple of weeks ago during the game against the Crusaders that I think they are the best once the ball hits the deck at either disrupting the ball or making it extremely difficult to get quick ball.
Now that does take its toll, but it’s a clear tactic that has been effective against most teams and was again last night.
Not to take away the fact that the Canes made errors, didn’t kick from hand as effective as they could’ve, but they were made to work hard for their possession.

Bryn Hall claimed that the Brumbies got 6 breakdown turnovers vs zero for the Hurricanes. Quite a reversal.

Watching the game, it felt that they were in control of the breakdown for the majority of the game. We hammered away at their line three or so times during the game only for the Brumbies to get a turnover
