That was bloody great, and if ever anyone needed a reminder that rugby is a game that is a lot about just going out there and sticking it to more fancied team, that was it. Stags just refused to lose!!!
Is there a player in country that epitomes what giving it everything for your team than Sean Withy??

I'm gutted but a well deserved win from the Stags. Just a gritty team that went to work and their fans are fucking top notch.

Man it would be even better if they defend it next week against Canterbury.

Well on a selfish level mate, although I would like them to hold it, if they lose it to Canterbury the Naki may get a shield challenge, so I'm torn!

So if Canterbury win the shield do they then have to defend against both Ta$man and Taranaki?

The All Blacks coming back looking as average as they have been playing. The All Blacks were poorly selected and are being poorly coached, and itโ€™s really starting to show. And how idiotic is the NZRU looking for not selecting Lester๐Ÿ™„

@Stag It's really noticeable that some guys who have been in the AB camp for a while are looking less fit and sharp than players who have been with their NPC squads for a couple of months.

WTF are the All Blacks coaches doing with those players?

@sparky Waikato won the Shield without them...guess it is alot of disruption to the team sometimes

I haven't read through the thread yet, nor watched the game. But the result was ruined by me scrolling Facebook.

I'll still watch, but congrats Stags!

Hunter Fahey has developed nicely this season. Could see him picking up a super contract in a year or two.

Went to the game. Horrid weather conditions. Southland played them much better than Waikato. Liked the play of Jack Taylor, Taeiloa and Peni.. although the latter showed a few rough edges.
Thought only ALB and Mason Tupaea went well for Waikato. Very much an off day, with the lineout a real shocker.

For such a unit Tupou Ta'eiloa can certainly shift.

Yep and Otago too Canes, they got no real guarantee of holding it until the Naki get challenge last game of season. I can see a team like Otago doing a Southland if Canterbury get it. F*** me this is all great!

@DurryMexted legit, not sure if Sullivan is injured but he's probably been the best back for Waikato this season and he didn't feature. I thought Norris went alright but the other 3 were absolute crap, I didn't even think LJ was on the field.

Lots about contemporary professional sport leaves me cold or even unhappy.

But this had the opposite impact on my mood. It was wonderful to see how much a Shield win meant to the Southland players and their supporters.

The feel good sports story of the weekend. Congratulations to the Stags again.
