3 minutes and 46 seconds and there's one tackle where he drives someone backwards. Kinda proves my point yeah?

Kind of a silly point if you ask me, just as long as he's making his tackle's and not missing any whether they be dominant one's or not. But hey, i'm guessing your a big Sam Cane fan so fair enough. To be fair on Ardie, i'd like to see Cane try and pull off 1 of those tackle's where the opposition player has 10-15 metre head start and Savea is still able to haul them in....show's a'lot of heart that kid that he never gives up!

Ardie seems a bit of a selfish player. That break he made, why not head for support instead of try the flashy dummy and go yourself?

That break could have resulted in a brilliant try for A. Savea, if TJP had bothered to look over his right shoulder and passed it back to Savea in support, after he gathered that kick instead of trying the miracle off load back on the inside to Halaholo http://www.worldrugbyvids.com/index.php/2016/08/01/ardie-savea-vs-chiefs/
-

If you get around to it, I'd like to read this argument. I'll accept that he's hard to pull down and has excellent leg drive when tackled, but you'll have to find some examples of him smashing people in the tackle.

Good win in the end by the Canes. Not easy to do in Sydney.

Thought the Tahs yellow should have been straight red. I get that they have been ruling these as lands on back = yellow head =Red (which in itself is BS. But this wasn't a miss timed contest. It was an arrive late, see the other guy jumping, carefully line him up and take him out in the air. Deliberate, dangerous foul play and should be red regardless of how he lands.

Thought J Savea had one of his better games for a while bumping off plenty of guys. His taking of the high ball (from that cross kick specifically) is still a worry though.

A Savea probably a bit quieter than usual but at least he didn't get dragged early like Cane did in the chiefs game :fishing: :mocking:

I really struggle to enjoy watching the Tahs play, even when they lose. I think it is mainly because Kearns is usually whining away. I get the sense that even his co commentators get sick of his shit sometimes. I wish there was an option to just listen to the refs mic or alternate comm's rather than having to mute.

Next weekend is going to have a few huge games.

I thought A Savea had a strong defensive game, every time the Tahs wide runners looked like slipping through a gap, he was there pulling off a tackle aswell as doing his defensive work around the rucks. Thought Folau was kept quiet cos it looked like Ardie was told to shadow Folau every time he ran the ball back, making a a'lot of tackles on him
-

I haven't seen enough of these two, Savea and Savea, I know - however I have the impression they are really good at galloping down the field all by themselves, viewing what may and may not be achieved through a three metre wide narrow prism populated by no other human beings (other than those to be run over). They are big and strong and such but they are young and I'm not so sure they have been alerted to the quaint notion of going as far as you can then shoveling the ball to someone in a better position, early.

It's a bit difficult to come to terms with these limitations after a decade long steady diet of the craft, guile, wide perspective, anticipation, awareness of where support players are in relation to their path of travel, foresight, reliable hands and clever feet of Conrad Smith, Corey Jane, Ma'a Nonu, Aaron Cruden, Tana Umaga, Piri and so on.

I think these fellas have a way to go yet.

You hit the nail in the head...you ain't seen enough of them play if that's the impression they give you. If i did'nt know who they were and had never seen them play before, that impression would have me thinking they were your typical big strong island type rugby players, who enjoyed galloping around the field running over the top of players cos that was the only side step they knew lol.. They definitely ain't ball hoggers til its to late either type players.

P.s If they had a way to go yet?.....then why are both brothers in the mighty All Blacks?! Isn't that the pinnacle dream of every aspiring rugby kid growing up in NZ to be! :good:
-

Taufua seems to be the reverse Ardie Savea with everyone saying he's bigger than what he's listed in the programme. He appears to have grown 4cm in the last couple of years and apparently he's heavy as whereas Ardie is a skinny runt. I wish a had an early 20s growth spurt.

We really need Ardie and Jordan to stand back to back so we can get something factually correct!

On Rieko Ioane's Wikipedia profile page, he's listed as 1.89m tall so with Ardie Savea standing right next to him side to side...it pretty much give's you a fair gauge on how tall A.Savea actually is i reckon

Pity you only get season totals though (unless I am driving it wrong).
I was interested in seeing what Canes tackle count was against the Force which was looking huge during the first half but probably tailed off once the Chiefs blew them away.

I actually did a player's comparison stat in regards to Sam Cane & Ardie savea, made for some quite interesting reading. Both players have almost played the same amount of minutes so far this super rugby campaign and there defence stats are so similar...it ain't funny. Savea obviously comes out trump's in the attack stat's though, but that's to be expected with the way he plays.
