Just watch and follow Rugby but did play and Coach Underwater Hockey and was a big Diver regularly going down to the sounds on dive trips.

@Mainlander Fuck, that last bit's absolutely shitty news. Thanks for popping back. I remember you being one of the funniest and sharpest posters on here in the mid-2000s.

Actually I sorta found it funny, much to the families discust/horror. They wont me to stop making jokes about it.
I feel it's what would have made me a good Cannes/Chiefs supporter. Humor in adversity
Ive had a resonably good life so no complants and it beats dimentia which every other elder male family member seems to have developed.
Although the Wife thinks I may have that as well. She's never worked out it's just because I don't listen to her.

That makes two of us on here! Not a lot of success results wise on the field for too long now but "there is always next year". At least we have to consolation of a few craft beers on tap in the Isherwood Lounge so you can still buy a standard jug or a large jug to consume whilst fulfilling the aftermatch requirements of NZs most continuously playing rugby club. Incidentally the next NZRFU President is an Axeman Life Member (Erin Rush)

Haven't been back for decades but remember the club rooms fondly.
I was there at the same time as Murray Pierce & Murray Mexted. Got to play for higher teams because those 2 were away on AB duty, Even made the Wellington Lions bench twice, Alias those were the days the bench was only used when there were legit injuries, their weren't. Even worse the program has a different bloke for one of the games (I was a late call up and probably the only one they could contact on such short notice) and totally misspelt by name for the other. Had a similar problem when I made the age grade reps while playing for Stokes Valley.

@sparky said in England XV Vs France XV:

The big talking point post-match will be the ref. Not just because of her gender and her youth. Hollie Davison had a lot of decisions to make there.

I thought she did okay. She has not much choice with the first RC. It was at least a YC, then got upgraded on review. The second one was a bit of a captain's challenge by Jamie George after the French try. The TMO spotted it. She took her time and awarded a YC. It then got upgraded to a RC by the bunker.

Both those last two French tries looked fair to me. She was well sighted for both and used the TMO to check.

Unlike some refs, she knows the laws and she is methodical and clear. Well done her.

But would I want her officiating an All Blacks tests or a RWC game? No I'm afraid. She's too slow around the park to officiate a top men's competitive game. She was a long way behind some of the breaks and she ended up in some odd field positions, when the game went side to side quickly.

She's fine for a barbarians or festival game. And a great role model for young female (and male) refs. But please, World Rugby, don't give her a NZ-SA game any time soon.

Totally agree, was amazed when I noticed her but thought she did OK. (Was there a Female touch judge in the Argintina/Lios game also?)
Sparky you said everything I noticed and was going to say, specialy that She was a long way behind some of the breaks, and in the wrong place on some of plays, but I've seen worse, she'll get better with experiance and most importantly did seem to demaind the lime light like some refs do. A year doing super-rugby would probably round her out nicely. Just a thought.

Ooh Wainoni, good east side man 😉 spent many of my 11 years in Chch running through Pages Rd.

People in Chch would laugh at me for saying this, but it's a beautiful partof the world!

    I wouldn't laugh.
I used to get my hair cut at the shopping centre of Pages and Breezes Rd.
Went to Wainoni Primary and lived on Avonside Drive just 1 house away from the corner of Pembroke st.
All gone now, School and House, visited about a year ago, made me sad, but the Avon was very beautiful and I got some nice pics.
